New UNESCO World Heritage Site in Italy! 🇮🇹

UNESCO has inscribed „The system of Italian-style condominio theatres of the 18th and 19th centuries in Central Italy“ on the World Heritage List. 🇺🇳

The serial property includes 10 historic theatres in Emilia-Romagna, Marche and Umbria, built between the mid-18th and late 19th centuries. 🎭

They represent the unique condominio model, in which municipalities and private citizens jointly financed and managed theatres, helping to expand access to the performing arts and creating important civic spaces in historic town centres. 🏛️

Italy now has 62 UNESCO World Heritage Sites – more than any other country in the world. ✨
