Italian wasn’t born in Italy.
It was born in Florence.
What we call “Italian” today is based on the Florentine dialect, shaped centuries ago by writers like Dante Alighieri — and you can still hear that clarity in the city now.
It’s one of the reasons Florence feels so distinct.
Not just visually, but culturally — there’s a depth here that reveals itself when you’re with someone who truly understands it.
Over the years I’ve kept a very small circle of guides here who bring that context into the experience in a way that feels natural and unforced.
If Florence is on your itinerary this year, feel free to send me your dates and I’ll point you in the right direction.
