POV: You just touched a stone the Devil allegedly threw in Rome. 😈🪨

Yes… the Devil apparently has terrible aim. 😂

According to an old legend, while Saint Dominic was praying inside Basilica di Santa Sabina, the Devil threw a stone at him.

He missed.

The stone stayed.

And centuries later, you can still see it… and touch it. 👀⛪️

Coincidence?
Legend?
Or perhaps the Devil simply needs to work on his throwing skills? 😏

When “I love you, Dad” becomes a Roman monument. 🏛️🩵

Meet the Temple of Hadrian, built in the 2nd century by Emperor Antoninus Pius in honor of his adoptive father, Emperor Hadrian. 🇮🇹✨

Today, 11 impressive Corinthian columns are all that remain of the ancient temple.

But once, this was a grand tribute to one of Rome’s most famous emperors.

Now that’s a family tribute that stood the test of time. ✨

You think this is just a normal balcony in Rome?
Well...you are wrong 😏🏛️

This is the balcony where Letizia Ramolino, Napoleon Bonaparte’s mother, used to sit and watch Rome unfold below her. 👀🇮🇹

From this little green, enclosed corner balcony at Palazzo Bonaparte, she could watch carriages passing through Piazza Venezia and the lively Roman Carnival filling the streets. 🎭🐎

She lived here for more than two decades, until her death in 1836.

So while everyone else was watching the streets…

She had front-row seats. 😏✨

Same boy. Two masterpieces. One very “painful” story. 👀🦶

Meet the Spinario 🗿, a boy pulling a thorn from his foot. 😅

According to later tradition, he was Marcius, a young messenger who ran barefoot to warn Rome of an enemy attack. He didn’t stop for the thorn until his mission was complete. 🏃‍♂️🦶

Whether he was really Marcius or simply an ancient boy having a very bad day…we’ll never know. 😂

But Rome loved the story enough to preserve it in both bronze and marble:

Same story. Different masterpiece. ✨

You’re walking down Via del Corso…
and Rome quietly hides a 1,500-year-old story behind this door. 👀⛪️

This is Chiesa di San Marcello al Corso, a church with roots going back to the early centuries of Christianity. ✨

But here’s the twist…

🔥 In 1519, a devastating fire destroyed much of the church.
✝️ Yet a wooden crucifix survived.

Years later, that same crucifix was carried through Rome during the plague of 1522 in a procession that lasted 16 days. 🙏🏻

Today, it remains one of the church’s most venerated treasures.

So next time you’re walking along Via del Corso…

Don’t just keep walking. Look for the door with a story behind it. 😉🇮🇹

Think a tiny church can’t make a BIG impression? Think again. 👀⛪️

This is San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, one of Francesco Borromini’s masterpieces, and one of Rome’s best examples of what happens when architecture refuses to play it safe. 😏

Look up. 👆
Curves, ovals, intricate details, a dome that seems to float…

And the crazy part? The church is tiny.

Borromini managed to turn a very limited space into something that feels monumental. ✨

Small footprint.
Huge imagination. 🏛️🩵

👣 Citywalkers tip: don’t just step inside and walk out. Stand in the center and look up, this is one of those places where the ceiling deserves your full attention. 👀📸

and accidentally found a little romance…❤️👀

A kiss beneath the watchful eyes of the saints?
Now that’s a Roman love story. 😏💋⛪️

There are 140 statues standing above Bernini’s famous colonnade, representing saints and spiritual guides surrounding St. Peter’s Square. ✨

And there’s something rather beautiful about the setting: Bernini designed the colonnade as the welcoming arms of the Church, embracing everyone who enters. 🤍

So yes…a kiss here feels pretty holy. ❤️
