📌 Riapre a Frossasco (Torino) il Museo dell’Emigrazione dei Piemontesi nel Mondo!

🧳 Attivo dal 2006, il Museo è stato fin dal principio l’occasione per raccontare i sogni, le avventure, le sfide di centinaia di migliaia di piemontesi che dalla loro terra di origine partirono alla ricerca di fortuna.

✨ Ora, grazie al progetto di restyling realizzato dalla Fondazione Torino Musei e coordinato da Davide Rosso, il Museo si presenta con una veste contemporanea, tra cartine e grafici, fotografie, oggetti e video che narrano aneddoti sui dialetti.

💬 “È importante partecipare ad eventi come questi per manifestare il sostegno che il Ministero degli Esteri dà a tutte quelle realtà che sono impegnate nel valorizzare la storia dell’emigrazione italiana, che è una delle più grandi pagine della nostra storia”, ha detto Giovanni Maria De Vita, responsabile del Progetto Italea, intervenendo all’inaugurazione del Museo.

📌 The Museum of Piedmontese Emigration in the World reopens in Frossasco (Turin)!

🧳 Active since 2006, the Museum has always been a place to share the dreams, adventures, and challenges of the hundreds of thousands of Piedmontese people who left their homeland in search of a better life.

✨ Now, thanks to a redesign project carried out by the Fondazione Torino Musei and coordinated by Davide Rosso, the Museum has a fresh, modern look—featuring maps and charts, photographs, objects, and videos that tell stories about dialects and local culture.

💬 “It’s important to attend events like this to show the support that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives to all those who are committed to promoting the history of Italian emigration—one of the greatest chapters of our national story,” said Giovanni Maria De Vita, head of the Italea Project, during the Museum’s reopening ceremony.

A fine giugno, il borgo si trasforma e rivive i suoi antichi quartieri, le Gaite: quattro “squadre” cittadine che si sfidano in mestieri, cucina e vita di un tempo. È il Mercato delle Gaite, una festa vera, fatta di botteghe che lavorano sul serio, di mani che intrecciano corde, cuociono pane, scrivono a mano come nel 1200.
👉 Quest’anno tutto ruota “Intorno al Boccaccio”, nel 650° anniversario della sua morte: un omaggio vivo alla cultura e al racconto delle origini. Un tuffo nel passato che ti fa dimenticare tutto il resto.

At the end of June, the village transforms and brings its ancient neighborhoods, the Gaite, back to life: four “teams” representing different parts of town, competing in traditional crafts, cooking, and medieval life.
It’s the Mercato delle Gaite, a true festival, with real working shops, hands weaving rope, baking bread, writing by hand — just like in the 1200s.

🌲 In Lombardia, all’ingresso della Val di Scalve, il borgo montano di Azzone custodisce una tradizione antica e affascinante: quella dei carbonai.
Qui si costruiva la poiat (in dialetto, la carbonaia), una struttura di legna e terra dove il fuoco non divampava, ma covava per giorni, trasformando lentamente il legno in carbone vegetale.
Oggi i boschi del Giovetto sono una riserva naturale, ma il ricordo di quei gesti lenti e sapienti parla ancora di identità e radici.

🌲 In Lombardy, at the entrance to the Val di Scalve, the mountain village of Azzone preserves an ancient and fascinating tradition: that of the charcoal burners.
Here, they used to build the poiat (in dialect, the charcoal mound), a structure made of wood and earth where the fire didn’t blaze, but smoldered for days, slowly turning wood into vegetable charcoal.
Today, the Giovetto woods are a nature reserve, but the memory of those slow, skilled gestures still speaks of identity and roots.

È un’enorme torcia di legna lunga 12 metri, portata a spalla da uomini in abito tradizionale, con forza e devozione. Accade a Potenza durante la Parata dei Turchi, una storica rievocazione che onora San Gerardo, patrono della città.
Tra tamburi e costumi medievali, la Iaccara avanza per le vie del centro fino ad essere innalzata e bruciata, in un rito che unisce fede, memoria e orgoglio popolare.
➡️ Si è appena conclusa l’edizione di quest’anno, ma il suo fuoco arde ancora nel cuore di chi ha radici lucane.
