Did you know Florence hosts one of the wildest historic sporting events in Italy—every June? ⚔️⚽

It’s called Calcio Storico, and it’s part football, part rugby, part wrestling. Dating back to the 1500s, this Florentine tradition pits teams from Florence’s four historic neighborhoods against each other—in full Renaissance costume—in the iconic Piazza Santa Croce.

The final match is always played on June 24, during the city’s celebration of its patron saint, San Giovanni.

Did you know each year thousands of rose petals are dropped through the oculus of the Pantheon in Rome? 🏛️🌹

This 2000-year-old tradition marks the annual feast of the Pentecost in Rome with the rose petals symbolizing the Holy Spirit descending on the faithful.

This year the rose ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 8th just after the 10:30am morning mass, according to the Pantheon website. If you want to catch this spectacular event in person, we recommend arriving well before the mass as early as 7am or before to secure a spot, and be prepared to pay a small entrance fee.

I addition to panoramic views and a historic castle dating back to the early 1600s, Montjuic hill is also home to one of the stadiums where they held the opening & closing ceremonies for the Olympics in 1992.

We also know the right people and have special partnerships with museums and tourist attractions like the Vatican that allows us to give you exclusive access to areas the average traveler would never get to see. By never having more than 6 people in any group, we hope to create a more intimate touring experience so our visitors feel safe, relaxed and can get personalized interaction that’s like touring with a friend, yet better! Then, with the help of your expert top rated guide, you can merge in with people of the place you are visiting, allowing you to truly embody the culture of the place you’re exploring, after-all, isn’t this the point of travel?

We launched back in 2009 as LivItaly and in those days, we had tours in only one city; Rome. Our tours were so popular that we soon expanded to Pompeii, and then on to Venice and Florence. In 2017 we took the leap outside of Italy and proudly launched in Barcelona, Spain. We’ve since gone on to provide remarkably successful tour bases in Milan, and most recently Sicily, Paris and very soon, London. It’s been clear to us for some time that our original name didn’t exactly fit anymore. We had to admit to ourselves that our beloved brand name LivItaly needed to step aside for a name that more accurately represented our current business, as well as our grander visions for the future.
