Oggi per "Meet the curator" abbiamo intervistato Alessandra Mammì, curatrice della mostra Fondazione Pastificio Cerere | Lofoten Poems – Visions from the Deep North Yngve Henriksen in mostra fino al 10 luglio.
- Ci racconti il tuo primo incontro con Yngve Henriksen?
Il primo incontro con Yngve Henriksen è stato con un suo quadro nella casa del comune amico Brendan Griggs a Cambridge. Il secondo invece è stato in un vero paesaggio notturno a Svolvær nelle isole Lofoten dove insieme a Brendan, ero arrivata proprio perché secondo Yngve per capire il suo lavoro era necessario affrontare fisicamente il paesaggio, respirare l’aria e vivere i colori di quel mondo con cui lui dialoga ogni giorno dentro e fuori i suoi dipinti.
- Com'è nato il progetto della mostra e cosa ti piacerebbe che lo spettatore portasse con sè?
Il progetto della mostra è contenuto in parte nel titolo “Lofoten poems”: immagine di una pittura che procede come la poesia per mettere in contatto un mondo esteriore con il mondo interiore. Le immagini di Yngve sono come una soglia tra l’immensità della visione dell’Artico e la profondità della sensazione che quel paesaggio produce in noi.

- Could you tell us about your first time meeting Yngve Henriksen?
My first meeting with Yngve was through one of his paintings at the home of our mutual friend Brendan Griggs in Cambridge. The second, however, took place in a real night-time landscape in Svolvær in the Lofoten Islands, where I had travelled because, according to Yngve, to understand his work it was necessary to physically experience the landscape, breathe the air and live the colours of that world with which he engages every day, both within and outside his paintings.
- How did the exhibition project come about, and what would you like the viewer to take away from it?
The exhibition project is partly encapsulated in the title “Lofoten poems”: an image of painting that proceeds like poetry to connect the external world with the inner world. Yngve’s images are like a threshold between the immensity of the Arctic landscape and the depth of feeling that landscape evokes within us.
