GETTING TO OSTIA ANTICA

Ostia Antica is well served by road and rail networks that give fast and direct access locally, nationally and from the rest of the world due to the near Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci Airport.

GETTING TO OSTIA ANTICA BY CAR

From the G.R.A. (Grande Raccordo Anulare): Take Exit 28 and then follow the Via del Mare (forbidden to buses and motorcycles) or the Via Ostiense up to Ostia Antica.

From the Cristoforo Colombo road: Take the Cristoforo Colombo towards Ostia staying on the right side street and then exit at the Pineta di Castel Fusano following the “Scavi di Ostia Antica” shield (Via della Villa di Plinio) . Cross the little bridge of the Canale dei Pescatori and then continue straight on Via di Castel Fusano up to the traffic lights of Ostia Antica, where Via di Castel Fusano crosses the Via del Mare. Going straight through the crossraod you arrive directly to the medieval village of Ostia Antica.

From Fiumicino Airport: Take Via Alessandro Guidoni and then, after Piazzale Nobile, follow Viale dell’Aeroporto di Fiumicino until you reach the Via del Mare. Follow first the signs to Ostia and then those to Ostia Antica.

GETTING TO OSTIA ANTICA FROM ROME USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT

From the train station Porta San Paolo (Piramide): Take the Roma-Lido railway towards Cristoforo Colombo. Get off at Ostia Antica and then reach the village using the pedestrian blue overpass (about 5 minutes walk). Train ticket: 1,50 EUR.

From Termini Station : Take the B line to Porta San Paolo (Piramide) and from there take the Rome-Lido railway following the directions mentioned above. Train ticket: 1,50 EUR.

GETTING TO OSTIA ANTICA FROM FIUMICINO AIRPORT USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There is a bus connecting the Fiumicino Airport to Ostia Lido. The ticket costs 1,20 EUR if you buy it before getting on the bus (bars, tobacconists and newsagents in the Airport). If you buy it on the bus, you will have to pay 7,00 EUR! The bus station is not easy to find: it is in front of terminal T2 (Arrivals). When you arrive to the central station of Ostia Lido, you can take the railway Roma-Lido to get to Ostia Antica (1,50 EUR).
