Traveling with your dog is such a joy—but it also takes planning, patience, and care, especially when your furry companion isn’t feeling 100%.

Our lovely Cesar has been recovering from a back injury, and while we were unsure at first, we still managed to enjoy a beautiful trip together. The key? A few essentials that made all the difference:

A sturdy, well-padded pet transporter to keep him safe and relaxed during travel
A dog-friendly B&B (and space to rest quietly)
Regular check-ins to monitor how he was feeling—lots of short walks, cuddles, and quiet time

We always try to include Cesar in our adventures—it wouldn’t feel the same without him!

If you’re thinking of taking your pup to Italy, we’re more than happy to plan your trip including finding the right B&B, and pet-friendly spots we’ve discovered. From gentle walks to peaceful stays, it’s totally possible to travel responsibly with your dog—even with health considerations.

Your dog deserves the dolce vita too.

Procida is the smallest of the Phlegraean Islands—but its architecture speaks louder than size. With its sun-faded pastel façades, winding alleyways, and centuries-old buildings shaped by sea, sun, and survival.

One of the island’s most striking features is the use of arched facades and vaulted ceilings, especially in the traditional homes found in Marina Corricella. These arched structures not only add elegance but also serve practical purposes—improving airflow, supporting upper levels, and providing shade.

Walk through the winding alleys and you'll see arched porticos, external staircases, and barrel-vaulted interiors, all part of the island’s Mediterranean vernacular style. Built for sun, sea, and community life, Procida’s architecture feels timeless.

From the fortified village of Terra Murata to the fishing village charm of Corricella, Procida shows how beauty, function, and history can blend in every arch and curve.

A Lovely Day in Ischia ☀️

We had the perfect day in Ischia Porto. It started with a delicious coffee and cornetto at Calise, a great café to start the morning.

After that, we spent time browsing shops, picking up a few local treats, and escaping the midday heat in a shady park nearby—calm and cool under the trees.

The highlight of the day was lunch at a Paranza, near the Castello Aragonese. The seafood was super fresh and absolutely delicious—one of the best meals of the trip!

Ischia never disappoints.

We spent a wonderful week exploring Portugal, starting with 2.5 days in Porto where we soaked in the charm of the city. Highlights included a scenic walk along the Douro River, a relaxing river cruise, and taking in the panoramic views from the beautiful Jardins do Palácio de Cristal. We enjoyed port tasting and browsing the Bahlao Market, and ended evenings with drinks at Bosco Porto. One of the culinary standouts was the delicious octopus at Cantina 32—an unforgettable meal.

In Cascais (4.5 days), we embraced the coastal vibe, starting our mornings at the adorable café The Craft Company and exploring local shops like Cais 16 - Craft Gallery and Mercado da Vila. A highlight was our day trip to Praia das Azenhas do Mar, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch with ocean views that were just magical.

🌞 Weekend Wanderlust vs. Reality Check 🚗💭
Last weekend, we set off with high hopes to explore the beautiful Ligurian coast, dreaming of discovering a hidden beach gem to soak up the sun.

First stop? A charming little seaside village—perfect for a snack and a walk by the port, but not quite the beach vibe we were after. Still, we enjoyed the views and a great drink with a breeze! 🍹🌊

Next, we spontaneously headed to Lerici… big mistake. It was packed! Not a single parking spot in sight. So, we thought, “let’s keep going!”
Tellaro was next—and just as crowded, with winding streets and nowhere to stop. 😮‍💨

After hours of driving, we gave up the adventure and returned to our happy place: Marina di Vecchiano in Versilia. Familiar, peaceful, and just what we needed. 💙

Italian Inspirations of last months✨

Lately I’ve been fully immersed in the dolce vita mood, and Italy keeps offering gems that make everyday moments feel like magic.

🎶 First, Jack Savoretti’s Italian-language album has been on repeat — soulful, cinematic, and perfect for slow mornings or twilight walks.

🍹 For my aperitivo, I’ve swapped the usual for a classic Crodino — no alcohol, just bittersweet perfection in a glass over ice with a slice of orange. Simple and iconic.

🗺️ Discovered Camaiore, a lesser-known Tuscan treasure tucked between the hills and the sea. Quiet streets, friendly locals, and that irresistible small-town charm.

🥐 My current cornetto obsession? The orange-filled one from a tiny bar in Vecchiano. Soft, fragrant, and sunshine in pastry form.

🍦And for gelato lovers: cheesecake flavour — hands down, a revelation. Creamy, tangy, indulgent. Easily my top pick of the season.

Italy, you never stop surprising me.

🌿 Sicilian Legends in Ceramic: The Story Behind Teste di Moro 🖤

If you've wandered the streets or artisan shops of Sicily, you've likely seen the iconic Teste di Moro — striking ceramic head vases depicting a Moorish man and a beautiful Sicilian woman. But these aren't just decorative pieces — they carry a dramatic tale of love, betrayal, and revenge.

🌺 The legend goes that during the Moorish rule of Sicily, a young Arab man fell in love with a beautiful girl in Palermo. She returned his love — until she discovered he had a wife and children back home. In a fit of rage, she cut off his head and used it as a pot for her basil. The plant flourished so beautifully that neighbors began to craft their own "heads" in ceramic — and thus, the Teste di Moro tradition was born.

🖤 Today, these powerful symbols of passion and Sicilian identity decorate balconies, homes, and gardens — often given in pairs, representing duality and balance.

If you're visiting Sicily, don’t leave without one — a piece of legend you can take home.

If you're heading to Venezia Giulia this year, here's a travel idea you’ll love!

🌄 Start in the breathtaking Dolomites, then make your way to Trieste — a coastal city where Italian, Austrian, and Slavic influences blend in the best possible way.

And here's the twist: you're just a short drive away from Slovenia or Croatia!
Spend a day truffle hunting in Istria near Poreč 🍄 or stop by a traditional Osmiza in Slovenia for homemade wine and cured meats in the hills.

It’s the perfect mix of nature, culture, and culinary adventure.

This month brought a beautiful mix of family, nature, and little joys.
We spent some lovely days in Poland — full of fresh air, long walks through quiet forests, and lots of quality time with family and friends. Of course, the food was incredible (as always): comforting, homemade, and full of flavour.

I also started the 5 Minute Journal this month and it's already become such a grounding little ritual — a few minutes each day to reflect, pause, and reframe.

We finally watched Daddio, and absolutely loved it. A beautifully intimate story set in a yellow cab — how could we not fall for it, being big fans of all things New York?

And my favourite read this month: The Friend by Sigrid Nunez. Quietly moving, honest, and beautifully written — it stayed with me long after the last page.

Here’s to more slow, meaningful moments in May 🌿✨
