Last weekend I was in Austin celebrating a friend’s 50th birthday, and our group took over much of the charming and historic Hotel Saint Cecilia.
Tucked just off South Congress, Austin’s iconic corridor of boutiques, restaurants, and live music, with just 20 rooms, it’s one of those hotels that feels distinctly Austin.
Named after Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music and poetry, the property pays tribute to artists, musicians, and writers. My room had a framed photo of Ray Charles hanging above a working record player and a selection of records, which pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the vibe.
Every staff member we encountered was genuinely warm, accommodating, and happy to help. The bar became our favorite gathering spot for cocktails, and the courtyard patio is the perfect setting for morning coffee or catching up with friends under the large shady trees.
A few things I loved:
✨ Walkable location near South Congress restaurants, shops, and music venues
✨ Intimate boutique feel with just a handful of rooms
✨ A mix of historic accommodations and newer additions
✨ One of the most impressively stocked in-room mini bars and snack selections I’ve ever seen.
✨ The charm extends beyond the décor to the people who bring the property to life.
If you’re visiting Austin for the first time, or looking for an easy, walkable home base with plenty of personality, this one deserves a spot on your list.
