We’ve just spent 2 weeks travelling around the spectacular Calabria… and what can I say, it never gets old to me! This is where you need to go to avoid the crazy crowds and see the true side of Italy. Tiny villages, the best food (where you’ll never get ripped off) and the most beautiful coastlines.

We stayed in Tropea —> Pizzo —> Scalea —> Altomonte —> Badolato ❤️❤️

Feel free to ask me for travel advice, I’m in love with this hidden gem of Italy!

Ciao, Abi x

If I do say so myself… what a photo! This is one of my absolute favourite spots in Calabria. The coastline of the northern Tyrrhenian is magical, and I promise that this picture has no filters and no editing. It really is that blue! 💙

We did one of my favourite walks in Italy this week, and it always takes me a long time because I can’t help stopping to take a million photos along the way!

The pathway leads up and over the rocky headland towards the spectacular Arco Magno beach (the one with the archway) and you can see right round the coastline towards Campania on a clear day. Bella la Calabria 😍

Stay tuned if you want to find out how to get here, as I’ll be sharing a video of the journey!

A wonderful few days spent in Pizzo Calabro 😍 This town is where I first lived in Calabria (scroll right through to the end to see that very familiar street!) and I will always treasure the opportunity to go back and visit my favourite spots.

Pizzo doesn’t get the same attention as Tropea, but I actually prefer the town. It has a very homely feel, a wonderful large piazza that is full of life all times of day and night, and plenty of lovely ‘vicoletti’ alleyways to get lost in.

The tartufo ice creams are just as delicious as remembered (sorry I have no good photos of the many we consumed, as they were eaten too quickly!)

Day two with a view and we’re floating above the seas of Scilla to the Strait of Messina with a delectable swordfish sandwich in hand 🗡️🐟🥪

Welcome to the delight that you didn't realise you needed this week...

Sandwiches + stunning views (a series)

Day one and we're dribbling over a classic Calabrese salami and cheese number, snapped in front of the famous Santa Maria dell'Isola, Tropea.

I've never introduced my face on here before, but I thought it was about time I said hello, so here goes...

This is me! I'm Abi, am (only just) clutching onto my late 20's, and am a northern English girl who has a self confessed obsession with all things Italian. Post-university, instead of the traditional gap year to 'find myself' in Bali, I packed up a convertible and travelled to live in Calabria, where the Italians couldn't have been more friendly and the lifestyle couldn't have been more idyllic. Ever since, I've dedicated this project to sharing the beautiful locations, people, and experiences I've uncovered in this unknown region, with the aim to finally earn Calabria its well-deserved spot on the map.

So forget queuing along the Amalfi's roads, forget standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the Vatican, and travel with me to discover the delights of the simple life in Calabria. (And you could be looking just as happy with yourself for picking grapes as me in this photo!)

I've shared mine, now I want to hear from this community. What's your Italian love story?

Cari saluti, Abi x

This photo is very special to me, because this very street is where I called home in Calabria. I moved to the tiny village of Pizzo from the UK, at the age of 22, and could not have experienced more kindness in this foreign land. The lovely Caterina sits in the front of this photo, who became part of my Italian family, and welcomed us with open arms.

This is why I am dedicated to this project and sharing the beauty of Calabria. Because of my love for the Calabresi 💗💗💗
