Day 10: cooking class! Rainy day so we stayed home at the farmhouse and made Bucatini all’amatriciana, Gnudi (naked ravioli) with brown sage butter, and polpettine (meatballs)! When it cleared up in the afternoon, we returned to Volterra for gelato and exploring more of the city we hadn’t seen.

Day 9: Chianni, San Casciana Terme and Lajatico: this morning we went to my friends’ olive oil production facility where we were shown how olives are pressed to make quality olive oil, and had a tasting! He also breeds a special breed of pig called “Cinta Sienese” and produces salami and pork products considered a delicacy! We then went onto Terme di San Casciana where we relaxed and experienced the warm mineral waters in the thermal baths. Later we went to Lajatico to have an “Apericena” at Teatro del Silenzio, Andrea Bocelli’s amphitheater.

Day 8: We started out the day with an Italian breakfast in Lajatico at Andrea and Alberto Bocelli’s restaurant Officina Bocelli, and visited the museum upstairs. We then went up the hill towards Volterra and stopped at my friend Claudia’s winery Podere Marcampo for a delicious and educational wine tasting. We continued up to the beautiful and medieval town of Volterra, where we spent the rest of the afternoon. Debbie and Tim did a walking tour with a local guide, while Maria and Steve shopped and had gelato. We all then had lunch in the town.

Day 7, Thursday 5/7/26: Siena, Val d’Elsa wine tasting, dinner outside at the farmhouse: beautiful sunny day to visit the Duomo of Siena! We then drove the countryside of the beautiful Val d’Elsa and did a yummy wine tasting at Cesani. We then came back to the farmhouse and enjoyed a light dinner outside under the gazebo and watched the sunset!

Day 6: Wednesday, 5/6/26, Peccioli: rainy day at “home” in the farmhouse, great day for making risotto together with fresh asparagus and zucchini flowers! (And wine of course!)

Day 4: 5/5/26: visit to San Gimignano, shopping, wine pairing lunch at Tenuta Torciano, double rainbow on the way back to the farmhouse!

Day 1 5/3/26: we have arrived at the Farmhouse! Visit to il Poggio Rosso craft brewery nextdoor!
