🔥 A kitchen in the American Midwest. A chapel in Tuscany. A front door in Amsterdam.

Different vibes. One studio. One obsession.

For nearly 40 years, Vetrate Artistiche Toscane has been creating stained glass that people don’t just look at - they live with it. Wake up to it. Pray in front of it. Welcome guests through it.

We are a small, independent studio in the heart of Siena, Italy - the birthplace of Italian stained glass, and we take commissions for spaces of every size and spirit.

A single door panel. Floor-to-ceiling church windows. An accent piece that turns an ordinary window into something extraordinary. A restoration of something irreplaceable.

We work with clients all over the world, and we’d love to hear about yours. Whether you have a fully formed vision or just a feeling - reach out. We talk through every project personally and we are currently taking on new projects.

What a joy to welcome back the students of High Point University, all the way from the USA, for their annual visit here in Siena ✨

Stepping inside a working studio, seeing the cartoons up close, understanding the process behind every commission — there is no classroom quite like this one.

We are so grateful for this connection, year after year. These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do.

If you’re dreaming of experiencing the studio for yourself, our 2026 courses are full — but drop us a message or visit the link in bio to join the waitlist for 2027. We’d love to have you. 🇮🇹🇺🇸

Benvenuti, sempre. 🙏

1997 called - and it sent us the best gift. 🎁

Claire Rice completed a 3-month apprenticeship with us way back in 1997, and this April (2026) she came back to visit! Nearly three decades later, and still part of the Glass Island family. 💛 We love that our studio has been woven into the lives of so many people over the years - students, apprentices, artists, dreamers. Every one of you carries a little piece of Siena with you. Claire, it was an absolute pleasure to see you. Come back sooner next time (don’t make us wait another 29 years 😄🙏).

Maybe YOUR apprenticeship adventure starts in 2027?

Here we go ✨

A new year, a new commission on the worktable, and fresh energy in the studio. We’re starting 2026 exactly how we love to - bringing a customized commission to life.

In just a couple of weeks, students will arrive for our upcoming winter stained glass course, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome new hands, ideas, and conversations into the workshop.

2026 already feels full of promise. Fall course dates will be announced soon here and in our (not so frequent 🤭) newsletter, so stay tuned.

DAY 8 — Time to Bring It All Together

Now that our glass paintings have survived their final firing, it’s officially panel-building time. 🔥➡️🪟

There’s something incredibly special about this stage…
Watching each student piece together their cut glass, painted details, shadows, and highlights into a full stained-glass panel - a final artwork that didn’t exist eight days ago.

From a blank sheet of glass… to a design… to paint… to fire…
Now? A their window tells their story. 🤍

Day 2: Cutting, Scoring & Preparing the Panels

Today our students moved into one of the most essential parts of the craft - cutting their glass pieces to prepare the panels for the painting phase. ✂️

Precision, steady hands, and a whole lot of focus filled the studio as everyone cut and shape each piece exactly to size. It’s the quiet (or not so quiet 🤔), technical work that sets the foundation for everything that comes next.

Tomorrow, the real magic begins as we transition into painting studies. Stay tuned.
