🇮🇹 Doveva essere una giornata dedicata alla ricerca di minerali. A capire meglio quello straordinario, colorato e ingarbugliato terreno sotto i nostri piedi. Tra colpi di mazzotto e piccoli frammenti di roccia, per scoprire che anche i “sassi” hanno un nome.

È stato tutto questo… e molto di più.

Merito di uno scenario di roccia che lasciava senza parole, di un “sentiero” da scrivere rigorosamente tra virgolette e soprattutto del meteo che, sfidando ogni previsione, ci ha ricordato che in alta montagna decide sempre lui.

Il ritorno sotto la pioggia, con ruscelli diventati torrenti, ha aggiunto quel pizzico di avventura che un gruppo davvero speciale ha affrontato senza arretrare di un passo. Siamo tornati a casa un po’ bagnati, sì… ma decisamente più ricchi. Dentro, perché di oro non ne abbiamo trovato.

🇬🇧 It was meant to be a day dedicated to mineral exploration. A chance to better understand the extraordinary, colorful, and intricate terrain beneath our feet. Between hammer strikes and small rock fragments, we discovered that even “stones” have names.

It was all of this… and much more.

Thanks to a breathtaking rocky landscape, a “trail” (strictly in quotation marks), and above all the weather, which—defying every forecast—reminded us that in the high mountains, it always has the final say.

The return in the rain, with streams turning into torrents, added that extra touch of adventure that a truly special group faced without taking a single step back. We came home a bit wet, yes… but definitely richer. Inside. Because we didn’t find gold—but something more valuable.

🇮🇹 Un agosto all’insegna dell’Elemento ARIA.

Un mese che ci porterà in alto, spesso intorno e oltre i 3000 metri, dove lo sguardo si allarga e ogni passo ha un sapore diverso. Escursioni pensate per chi ha già confidenza con la montagna e con la fatica… e sa bene quanto queste sappiano ripagare.

Tra ambienti unici e poco frequentati: il surreale “ciatè” di Vazzeda, la (ingiustamente) snobbata Cima di Schiazzera, il carattere roccioso del Desenigo, il balcone naturale sul Bernina del Piz Languard, fino all’asprezza della Vetta di Ron.

Due sole deviazioni dal tema: l’immancabile Wine&Trekking e un’incursione nella selvaggia Val Malgina.

Un mese intenso, verticale, di quelli che lasciano il segno.
Agosto è pronto. Sta a te decidere fin dove arrivare.

🇬🇧 n August shaped by the Element AIR.

A month that will take us high, often around and above 3000 meters, where the view opens up and every step feels different. These hikes are designed for those who already have a good connection with the mountains and with effort… and know just how rewarding it can be.

Through unique and less-traveled environments: the surreal “ciatè” of Vazzeda, the (unfairly) overlooked Cima di Schiazzera, the rocky character of Desenigo, the natural balcony over the Bernina from Piz Languard, all the way to the rugged Vetta di Ron.

Just two exceptions to the theme: the ever-present Wine & Trekking and an excursion into the wild Val Malgina.

An intense, vertical month—one that leaves its mark.
August is ready. How far you go is up to you.

🇮🇹 Vediamo insieme cosa succederà nel prossimo weekend in casa 4 Elementi.

Sabato 1 Agosto
Ultimo appuntamento con i "Forabocc", a cercare minerali in un luogo che sembra fuori dal mondo, un minestrone di rocce colorate, un ambiente incredibile, cime dalla faccia inospitale, un laghetto glaciale che resiste nonostante tutto ed un rifugio con una delle viste più bella dell'intero arco alpino (non stiamo esagerando!)

Domenica 2 Agosto
Agost..amento ed invaiatura: due parole strane per raccontare uno dei momenti più affascinanti della vite. Gli acini si colorano, pronti a diventare vino, i tralci si trasformano in legno per prepararsi all'inverno. Un mondo, quello del vino, che ci regala sempre sorprese.

Last call for the *Forabocc*: we’re heading out to hunt for minerals in a place that looks like it wasn’t meant to be friendly. Rocks everywhere, unreal colors, peaks that clearly don’t want you there, a disappearing lake, and a mountain hut with a view that makes everything else irrelevant (and no, that’s not marketing).

Sunday, August 2nd
Agostamento and invaiatura: not exactly catchy names, but definitely worth your attention. The grapes start changing color, getting ready to become something serious. The shoots toughen up, turning into wood to face the winter. The vine, unlike most of us, knows exactly what it’s doing.

🇮🇹 Ci sono giornate in cui il sentiero è solo una parte del viaggio.

Quest'anno abbiamo avuto il piacere di partecipare a "La Strada della Montagna", un progetto di Regione Lombardia e Guide Alpine Lombardia

La parola chiave è stata inclusione: escursioni dedicate ai ragazzi e alle ragazze di Comunità per Minori, Centri Diurni e Centri di Aggregazione Giovanile, con l'obiettivo di avvicinare alla montagna chi, per tanti motivi, ha meno occasioni di viverla.

Insieme al collega Jorge Rodríguez Marroyo, abbiamo cercato di condividere ciò che conosciamo della montagna con i ragazzi, le ragazze e i loro educatori.

Siamo partiti con l'idea di accompagnare un gruppo in montagna. Siamo tornati a casa con molto più di quanto pensassimo di poter lasciare.

Abbiamo incontrato giovani curiosi, autentici e pieni di energia, accompagnati da educatori che ogni giorno svolgono un lavoro prezioso, spesso lontano dai riflettori.

Il Lago di Endine ha fatto da sfondo a una giornata che ci ricorderà, ancora una volta, quanto la montagna possa essere uno straordinario luogo di incontro.

🇬🇧 There are days when the trail is only part of the journey.

This year, we had the pleasure of taking part in "The Mountain Path", a project by the Lombardy Region and the Lombardy Alpine Guides Association.

The key word was inclusion: a series of hikes designed for young people from residential care communities, day centers, and youth community centers, with the goal of introducing the mountains to those who, for many different reasons, have fewer opportunities to experience them.

Together with my colleague Jorge, we did our best to share our knowledge and passion for the mountains with the young participants and their educators.

We set out thinking we were simply going to guide a group through the mountains. We came home with far more than we ever imagined we could give.

We met curious, genuine, and energetic young people, supported by dedicated educators whose invaluable work often goes unnoticed.

Lake Endine provided the perfect backdrop for a day that reminded us, once again, how the mountains can be an extraordinary place where people connect.

🇮🇹 Cosa abbiamo in serbo per voi questa settimana?

Due escursioni che sembrano non avere nulla in comune… ma un filo conduttore c’è.

Il rapporto tra acqua e terra: capace di creare scenari magnifici, come quello della Grotta Ferrera, oppure disastri immani, come accadde nel 1987 in Val Pola, quando le piogge eccezionali alimentarono la gigantesca frana che porta il suo nome.

Per arrivare alla grotta vi porteremo tra le meraviglie della Val Meria.
E prima di affacciarci sul ciglio della frana, raggiungeremo il Lago Campaccio, nascosto sotto il versante meno esplorato della Cima Piazzi.

Due luoghi diversi, un unico filo da seguire.

Two hikes that might seem to have nothing in common… but there’s a thread connecting them.

The relationship between water and land: capable of creating stunning landscapes, like the Grotta Ferrera, or causing dramatic disasters, like in Val Pola in 1987, when exceptional rainfall triggered the massive landslide that still bears its name.

To reach the cave, we’ll take you through the wonders of Val Meria.
And before standing on the edge of the landslide, we’ll reach Lago Campaccio, hidden beneath the less explored side of Cima Piazzi.

Un incontro che non ti aspetti.

I caprioli sono ghiotti dei germogli delle viti. E non solo: si nutrono anche dei tralci “capofrutto”, quelli che i viticoltori lasciano per la produzione dell’anno successivo.

Per questo, tra i filari, è più facile di quanto si pensi imbattersi in loro.

Per gli agricoltori può essere un problema serio. Per noi, oggi, è stato qualcosa di diverso.

Un cucciolo, immobile ai piedi di una vite, in attesa della madre.
Nessun movimento, nessun rumore. Solo istinto.

Ci siamo fermati, il tempo di capire.
Poi ce ne siamo andati, lasciandolo lì dov’era: al sicuro, nel suo silenzio.

P.S. e abbiamo scoperto anche che capriolo in "Senegalese" si dice chebèl :-)

🇬🇧 An unexpected encounter.

Roe deer are fond of vine shoots. And not just that: they also feed on the “fruiting canes,” the ones growers leave during pruning for the following season’s production.

That’s why, among the rows, it’s more common than you’d think to come across them.

For farmers, it can be a serious problem. For us, today, it was something else.

A fawn, lying still at the foot of a vine, waiting for its mother.
No movement, no sound. Just instinct.

We paused, long enough to understand.
Then we moved on, leaving it where it was: safe, in its silence.
