Truffle and Potato festival in medieval Pietralunga this weekend!

Pietralunga is about 40 minutes from the villas. The town also has a natural history museum focused on birds living in the Upper Tiber Valley. The Ornithological Museum boasts examples of 98% of Alto-Tevere bird species.

Some traditions aren’t preserved behind glass—they’re still practiced every day. 🇮🇹

In the countryside below Anghiari, the Luzzi family has been weaving baskets by hand since 1872. Cane is soaked, shaped and woven into everything from traditional baskets to furniture and custom pieces, continuing a craft passed down through generations.

It’s places like this that make this corner of Italy so special: workshops where history is not simply remembered, but still being made.

A beautiful reminder to slow down, look closer, and discover the artisans behind the traditions. ✨

It’s almost time for the olive harvest to begin in Umbria. Because we are in a mountainous region, the harvest begins when the olives are not fully ripe, just turning black but still a bit green. 🌳
