Venice isn’t a floating backdrop for IG stories—it’s a real city with real rules (and very real seagulls).
Here’s your unfiltered guide to not being that tourist:
🧭 Getting Around?
– Google Maps will fail you.
– Walk on the right. Seriously.
– Front seats = elders + moms with kids. Respect the hierarchy.
🍝 Food Etiquette?
– Fountains = drinkable. Use them.
– Picnics? Locals hate it. Seagulls love it.
– If a waiter is chasing you down the street, keep walking.
🏡 Staying in Venice?
– Check your Airbnb. If it’s illegal, police might check in before you do.
– Legal stays = respect for locals. Don't support the housing crisis.
🛍️ Want souvenirs?
– Buy from actual Venetians, not plastic gondolas or toxic carnival masks.
– If it smells like a factory in China, it probably is.
🙋♂️ Cultural Basics?
– Say “Hello” when you enter a shop. Always.
– Don’t swim in the canals. It’s illegal... and full of 💩 (literally).
📣 Venice doesn’t need more tourists. It needs better ones.
Be a traveler. Not a walking cliché.
