Two days ago, I provided a van tour for an American family who wanted to visit the 5 Torri, a 10-minute drive from Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Since I had never been up to the top by gondola (7,200 ft) before and had to wait anyway, I went up with them—it was a wonderful experience with breathtaking views...

There were also mountain guides leading tours through the World War I trenches; they were wearing Austro-Hungarian uniforms and gave a brief explanation of the Great War and the battles that took place at the Five Towers.

Yesterday began a new long haul tour... we picked up two people in Venice and, after a couple of hours in Verona, we arrived in La Spezia, Liguria, in the western part of Italy.

Tomorrow we will head to Pisa and Lucca...finishing in Florence.

The tour will continue to Rome, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and end again in Rome.
