A man from New Zealand got hit with a hefty fine (around $600) after diving into Rome’s Trevi Fountain.

If you’re looking to enjoy it without causing an international incident … I’d go around sunrise: before the crowd and before the 2Euro fee.

Two changes at Fossil Creek for Summer 2026:

1️⃣ It’s now open 7 days a week (compared to Fri-Sun).
2️⃣ Most of the permits will be given out 2 days before the visit (rather than 30 days).

The USFS says it’ll give people planning last-minute trips more of a shot at securing a permit for one of the 7 parking lots at Fossil Creek.

KEY INFO: It’s a rough 15-mile drive along a dirt road from Camp Verde to the Fossil Creek lots.

PERMIT DETAILS
❇️ Cost: $6 per vehicle
❇️ Required: April - September
❇️ 40% of permits still given out 30 days in advance
❇️ 60% now given out 2 days in advance
❇️ Website: Recreation.gov
❇️ Permits released daily at 8am (AZ time)

This is what Spirit Airlines’ shutdown looked like in real time Friday night into Saturday morning.
Whether you fly (or flew) Spirit or not, its ultra low-cost prices had an impact on the industry.
The government decided a $500m bailout was a bad investment, and a spike in jet fuel prices seemed to be the final nail in the coffin.
Aside from the thousands of passengers looking to rebook flights this weekend … thousands more employees are now looking for new jobs.

Presqu’ile Winery in Santa Maria Valley, CA, by the numbers:

🍷 360: Barrel capacity in the wine cave

☀️ 85%: Solar powered
🍱 5: Dishes in chef’s mezze lunch (based on the garden)
🐴 3: Types of vineyard tours offered, including horseback

They also have 400,000 gallons of water in ponds on site for fire suppression.

A couple weeks ago, TSA staff (required to work during another shutdown) got partial paychecks. This weekend, they’ll get nothing on payday.
Does the agency’s payscale surprise you?
You can bet more will continue taking temp gig-worker jobs to pay the bills.

Reynisfjara, a famous black sand beach near Vik, Iceland, eroded away this month. It’s unclear if the black sand will be restored. There’s work underway to prevent more erosion, but the visitor experience is changed indefinitely.

Beaver Falls is one of the beautiful waterfalls along Havasu Creek.
Getting here involves a 10-mile hike to the Havasupai Falls campground, near the Grand Canyon.
This waterfall is another challenging 2-mile hike downstream from there.
