The BEST Itinerary for your first trip to Japan👇

Save this for your trip to Japan!🇯🇵

And send to your travel buddy!💌

✨This Itinerary can be done completely in reverse! We found best flights into Osaka, so that’s why we started there.

📍Osaka - 3-5 days

Visit Universal Studios, see Osaka Castle, explore Dotonbori. There’s lots of great food here!

I suggest 2-3 days to see Osaka, and an extra 1-2 days for day trips.

📍Kyoto - 3-5 days

You will want a minimum of 3 full days dedicated to Kyoto, buut there is so much to do that 5 would be ideal!

Spots to see: Nishiki Market, Bamboo Forest, Arashiyama Temple Hopping, Sannenzaka & Ninnenzaka, Kiyomizu Dera Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Gion District. The list goes on and on!

You can also consider visiting Kifune and Mount Hieizan!

📍Nara & Kobe - day trips

Visit both cities as a day trip from either Osaka or Kyoto. I suggest day tripping from Osaka because it’s cheaper to stay there!

Nara - feed the deer in Nara park, visit Todaiji Temple, see the mochi pounding!

Kobe - take Kobe ropeway to the mountains, visit Meriken Park, eat at Kobe’ Chinatown. And try Kobe beef!

📍Lake Kawaguchiko - 2 nights

Staying near Mt. Fuji is always my number suggestion to really enjoy the area and help improve chances of seeing Fuji!

I highly suggest staying in Lakeland Hotel Mizunosato (ryokan with Fuji views) and renting bikes to ride around the lake!

📍Tokyo - 4 nights

Visit Teamlabs, Tsukiji Fish Market, Shibuya Sky, Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace, Senso-Ji Temple.

Here’s what you need to know👇

Save this for your Dolomites trip!🇮🇹

🗺️The Dolomites are HUGE- so I suggest basing in multiple spots depending on what you want to see!

🛏️We spent 4 nights in Cortina d’Ampezzo and 2 nights in Ortisei.

📆Six nights in my opinion is minimum- there is just so so much to see and do!

Since the Dolomites are large and spread out, I do suggest renting a car for peak flexibility on timing and choices!🚗

🚌However it is still doable with public transport! Just expect longer transit times and less flexibility on timing.

⭕️If you do rent a car- pay close attention to speed limits! They change VERY often and can be hard to keep track of!

👉For international drivers- you WILL need an International Drivers License! I was able to get mine for $20 the morning I left the USA!

Book your acommodations very early- many hotels in summer (peak season) book out very early!

🥾While the hotels and villages are great- consider hiking hut to hut to save money. Many huts are cheaper than hotels and include breakfast and dinner, making it super convenient and cost effective!

Just know that those huts get booked up EXTRA early!😅

Another fun fact is that everywhere has TWO names! One in German and one in Italian! 😄

🚗If you plan on doing the famous Tre Cime or Cadini di Misurina trails- you must reserve parking at Rifugio Auronzo ahead of time or hike a few extra miles to the start of those trailheads. It is super easy to do ahead of time!

The Seceda Cable Car will also require pre-booking this summer as well!

🏔️The Dolomites definitely do get crowded- but there are PLENTY of spots that aren’t. Do some research because there are so many beautiful spots that aren’t popular on Instagram yet!

✨Struggling to plan your Dolomites trip? I have a 30 page guide to help you plan! It has my exact itinerary, suggestions, and my exact cost breakdown!

Save these spots for your Dolomites trip!🇮🇹

And send to your travel buddy💌

📍Lago di Sorapis - The bluest water I have ever seen! A intermediate hike via Passo Tre Croci will take you here!

Sorapis gets crowded- if you are up for a greater challenge, try hiking via Forcella Marcoira for better views and less crowds!

The next three are all on the same road 😍

📍Lago di Misurina - a beautiful lake just a short drive from Cortina d’Ampezzo! A great spot for lunch after hiking to Sorapis.

📍Lago di Landro- another beautiful stop with a stunning mountain backdrop 🥹

📍Lago di Dobbiaco - stop here on the way to Lago di Braies- it is gorgeous!

📍Lago di Braies - possibly the most beautiful lake in the world! About an hour drive from Cortina d’Ampezzo! You may need to reserve parking in advance.

✨Other lakes we didn’t visit/stop for that you should:
Lago di Carezza
Lago di Limides
Lago di Antermoia
Lago delle Baste

A few more tips 👇

Book everything far in advance- the Dolomites are popular and things book QUICK!👏

Especially if you wish to stay in mountain huts- definitely book these VERY far in advance!😅

Many can be booked almost a year out😭

📍For Lago di Braies- there is some first-come, first-serve parking. But you must get there early!

🚗You can pre-book parking there, and it is required in some lots during peak season. We had no problem getting first-come, first-serve parking in July 2025.

I highly suggest renting a car, however it is totally possible to access all of these places without one😄

🗺️We split our time between Cortina d’Ampezzo and Ortisei for this itinerary!

A must visit on your trip to Italy👇

Send this to your travel buddy!💌

🇮🇹Lago di Braies
🥾2.3 miles/ 3.7 km
📈620 feet/ 189 meters elevation gain
😄Easy

🤩Lago di Braies is simply one of the most beautiful places you will ever visit!

Nicknamed “The Pearl of the Alps”, Lago di Braies is a beautiful shade of blue and has an INSANE mountain backdrop that shows up in the lake’s reflections also!

🏊‍♂️Swimming is not allowed, but rent a rowboat to experience the lake itself!

They cost around 50 Euros for 45 minutes!

🥾This lake is also the start of the famous Alta Via 1 thru-hike!

Be prepared for crowds, and consider booking parking in advance! We didn’t do so but it wasn’t a big deal for us.

☀️Visit during summer for best hiking weather! But it looks absolutely stunning in winter

Obviously I am biased and the Dolomites are my favorite place in the world🤠

Which hike would you go on first?👇

Your new favorite hike in the Dolomties 👇

Save this for your trip to Italy 🇮🇹

The trail to Lago di Sorapis is CROWDED! I highly suggest taking this route for far better views!🤩

📍Lake Sorapis - Forcella Marcoira via Passo Tre Croci
🥾8.3 miles / 13.36 kilometers
📈2929 feet / 893 meters elevation gain
Moderate

👉We actually clocked just over 9 miles, but that was with a few trips to the rifugio and hanging out by the lake!

This route is harder than the original due to the elevation gain and long descent.

📝Reviews on Alltrails said this is very hard and for advanced hikers. I did not find it to be too difficult, and don’t see why it would be for advanced hikers besides the short scramble.

🌄The views at the top are simply amazing. Take some time to hang out there!

‼️It does get exposed at one section, so be prepared if you’re afraid of heights! It was my favorite part!

🗺️Following this route on Alltrails will have you return the trail that most people take, so you will encounter crowds at the lake and on that route.

But we saw virtually nobody on the route to the lake!😄

✨People say that the normal route is difficult but it was an absolute walk in the park for us compared to the way to the lake! It was just super crowded

Bring lots of water! I drank over 3 liters!🥵
