There’s a place that’s closest to my heart… 🍂

📍 Val di Funes, in the Dolomites.

A few of my favourite things to do in the Dolomites during autumn, before the first snow arrives:

: Take a slow walk through Val di Funes

: Visit Lago di Braies early in the morning, when the lake is beautifully calm and the autumn colours reflect on the water.

:Explore the charming villages of the region.

: Go for a scenic hike around Alpe di Siusi, one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the autumn landscape.

: Take a peaceful walk around Lago di Dobbiaco, an easy and beautiful route, perfect for families.

I love the Cotswolds… I think that’s no secret by now.
And there are a few very specific things that always make me want to go back there, especially during cosy season 🕯️
These are a few of my favourites…

The storybook-like cottages, with their beautiful wreaths hanging on the front door. Kingham have so many beautiful ones.

The cosy interiors of the houses with dim lights and fireplaces on.

The timeless decorations during Christmas time. My favourite: Broadway.

Having dinner at the pub, with low light and the smell of burnt wood. A personal favourite for this ambience is The Bull at Charlbury.

Seeing all the beautiful window displays. They will make you dream!

Going back to the warmth of the cottage and having a snack and drink by the fireplace.

There’s no place to live the cosy season like the Cotswolds.

🍁 Val di Funes: one of the most beautiful valleys to see the mountains surrounded by golden larches.

🍂 Alpe di Siusi: wide alpine meadows, mountain views and beautiful autumn colours.

🏔️ Lago di Braies: quieter than in summer and especially beautiful surrounded by the changing trees.

🍁 Cortina d’Ampezzo: a beautiful base for exploring the surrounding valleys and mountain passes.

🌲 Val Gardena: charming villages, forest walks and some of the most beautiful autumn scenery in the Dolomites.

October is one of my favourite times to experience the Dolomites.

When autumn starts to set in Provence 🍂 the region becomes quieter, the air feels fresher, and everything seems to slow down a little.
It’s a different way to experience Provence, and one I really love.
