Jersey Hospitality Association The JHA aims to unite Jersey's hospitality industry into a single powerful voice, helping businesses

Supporting Jersey's hospitality industry and as its trade association since 1957

Our resources are designed to support Jersey's hospitality industry and as its trade association we have a strategic role to provide leadership and direction for the development of the visitor economy so that maximum economic benefit can be achieved for the Island. The Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA), is a leadi

ng representative organisation. We aim to deliver real returns for our members, positively promoting the industry's priorities through partnerships with government, trade partners, other associations and organisations by effectively representing hospitality and tourism in Jersey. We identify key issues and formulate clear policies to reflect the views and needs of a diverse range of industry partners who, in terms of turnover and work force, represent an essential part of Jersey's economic infrastructure and its social landscape. Moreover, we continually monitor policies that have an impact on this important sector of the local economy. The JHA continues to develop a portfolio of benefits and services that are designed to support all hospitality businesses across all sectors whilst promoting best practice to ensure service delivery to underpin a positive consumer experience in order to maximise repeat business and develop growth from existing and new visitor markets.

Very encouraging news from DFDS.

We have been working very hard with the team at DFDS Jersey to try and ‘steady the boat’ over the past year and it’s been filled with challenges for them to say the least! However, we are thrilled that their hard work and continued dedication to getting it right for Jersey is starting to pay off. Well done to all their team and let’s hope that the demand continues to grow and the numbers continue to rise.

PASSENGER numbers on DFDS services to and from the Island were up 20% in May compared to the same month last year – with the ferry operator citing “strong demand” across its three Jersey routes heading into the summer season. The Danish shipping firm noted that the strongest growth was seen on...

TRIBUTES have been paid to Tino Rossi – who owned and ran La Capannina for six decades – describing the much-cherished restaurateur as a “one of Jersey’s great hospitality legends”. Mr Rossi, who opened the Halkett Place institution in 1966, died last week. Jersey Hospitality Association c...

An interesting opinion piece in the from Stephen Clipp a recently retried hospitality professional.

One section really stands out to us and is so true:

‘And then there is tourism. This is the part that makes me angry. For an island whose visitor economy supports so many businesses, events, attractions and transport links, it is astonishing how little priority it is given by so many candidates.

It brings in outside money and gives Jersey atmosphere and life, yet, too often it appears only as a passing reference under “the economy”. That is irresponsible in the extreme.

We talk constantly about growth but barely mention one of the few sectors that visibly touches all of us. Something is badly missing in the conversation.’

So what are you going to do about this? We know we are so we need to demonstrate the impact that around 7,000 of us working in the visitor economy can have on Sunday by voting to change this.

We will be sharing the results of our questionnaire to all candidates with our entire membership later this week, who has said what, and who has said nothing.

This election is fundamentally different now that anyone who has resided in Jersey for 12 months or more can vote, this time, our voice will be heard.

24/05/2026

This election could genuinely be decided by people who have never voted before.

Jersey’s visitor economy supports more than 7,000 jobs, over 12% of all employment on the island.

At the last election, turnout was only 41.7%, with just 17% of under-35s voting.

Now, for the first time, anyone over 16 who has lived in Jersey for more than 12 months can vote.

That means thousands of you across our industry now have a voice powerful enough to shape the future of our island.

If every business simply encourages their teams to engage, understand the issues, and get out to vote, the Visitor Economy could become one of the most influential democratic forces Jersey has ever seen. Not through politics. Not through parties. But through participation.

We will be sharing with our members a full breakdown of the engagement we have had with all candidates over our industry, its challenges and our recent call to action in the week before the election so that you can see the work we have been doing behind the scenes for you.

isn’t just our slogan.
In this situation, it’s over 7,000 voices finally realising they matter, have a choice and a very strong voice.

An entertaining and interesting Chamber lunch today with 5 senatorial candidates taking to the stage to share their views on our Island’s future.

We were pleased to represent our industry and members with a visitor economy specific question and were pleased to hear that all the candidates seriously value the visitor economy and understand the significant role it’s plays for our greater economy and quality of life for all islanders.

While not a representation of the actual election, a pre and post event poll voted on by only those in attendance was an interest extra with even more interesting results.

We think this is called or actually it’s just part of our job to make sure the next group of political leaders of our Island are fully educated aware of exactly what the visitor economy is and the critical role it plays. Glad this only happens once every 4 years!

Offering prize money of $800,000, this year’s event will be televised worldwide and mark the finale of Supertri’s 2026 season, with the economic benefits for the Island welcomed by Marcus Calvani, co-chair of the Jersey Hospitality Association.

“Supertri is something that captures the inimitable elements of our Island, with competition in an iconic harbour setting and really putting Jersey on the map,” he said. “It has a double benefit, as not only will it bring people here this year, but the TV coverage will showcase the Island to people who may come to next year’s event, or for a holiday at another time.

“In the same way as Bergerac has done, some of this coverage helps promote Jersey in markets that would otherwise be difficult to reach.

Mr Calvani described event-led tourism as a key part of the Visitor Economy Strategy.

“It’s great for the accommodation sector, but visitors don’t just stay in hotels, they go out to bars and restaurants and enjoy everything the Island has to offer, bringing real vibrancy,” he said.

THE return of the world’s leading triathletes to compete in Jersey later this summer has been hailed by a hospitality leader as a key opportunity to stimulate the visitor economy. The Island will play host to the Supertri event for the sixth time over the first weekend of September in a feast of s...

Further fantastic news for our Island’s brand awareness and the ever growing success of Bergerac.

We are thrilled that the show will now also be aired on BBC1 giving amazing destination awareness to an even larger audience.

BERGERAC is set to reach “an even wider audience” with the first season of the revamped detective drama making its way to BBC One this summer. Executive producer Brian Constantine said the news came in the wake of “strong sales” across America, Asia and Europe and “hugely encouraging” su...
