Big shout out to one of our crew members Tyler Horton. Tyler is competing at the island games this week in Orkney in the Sailing, along with her other team mates, Kai, Morgan and Justin.

Currently 4 of our crew members (Charlotte, Henry, Ollie and Tyler) are active members of St Catherines Sailing Club, so if they aren't on our ribs they are to be found teaching sailing, driving safety boats or racing their own sailing dinghies. What can we say .... they just love being on the water!!!!

10 years of adventures - Island Rib Voyages and Les Amis Residents

Last week in glorious sunshine, two Ribs from Island Rib Voyages headed out on a south coast trip from St Helier with a group of residents and staff from Les Amis.

The inaugural trip which included Les Amis residents took place in 2015, so this year marks the 10th anniversary. Mario Setubal, owner/skipper of Island Rib Voyages looks forward to the annual trip almost as much as those who go on them. The trips can vary depending on the weather, but this year they headed along towards Corbiere Lighthouse to search for dolphins and then into St Aubins bay for a few donuts - tight circles at speed, which are a big favourite.

When asked what was the best bit? Mario replied: The screams of joy and smiles on their faces, and the banter that they have with all the skippers and crew when they arrive - some can get very excited and very loud, but for me and my staff it’s all worth it - just to see how happy they all are from arriving to the time they leave, and they all leave with the same question: "Same time again next year" and the answer is always the same "oh, I don’t know... you are all so very loud and rowdy. Wouldn't miss it for the world, see you next year"

Mario takes great pleasure in being able to give to the community in such a fun way and he is thankful that his skippers and crew share the feel the same and give their time freely too.

Liam Boersma, Les Amis Support Worker, shared some words on the trip. “We had the pleasure of being invited by Island RIB Voyages on a rib trip for the Les Amis Social Club. We were met with smiles and laughs by the crew on the Albert Pier and after a quick safety briefing, we set off to Corbiere at high speed. The ladies and gents we were supporting had an amazing time as we raced across the water. There were plenty of smiles and screams as our skipper Bobby expertly guided us along the coast and through the bays there and back. At the end, everyone was very grateful and very keen to go on another trip soon. All in all, an amazing evening out for the social club and massive credit to the crew of Island RIB Voyages who made it all possible for us.”

Founded in 1975, Les Amis' mission is to empower people with learning disabilities such as Down's Syndrome and associated conditions, like autism, cerebral-palsy and more. Les Amis today supports around 100 adult Islanders at any one time via three
services: residential, domiciliary and respite. Our mission is to ensure the right support is provided at the right time and to encourage adults with learning disabilities to live their lives to their fullest potential.

Finally, our new boat is here and in the workshop, the first bits built, very important power for our phones and boat Wifi, then the cupholders, as we do not want the skipper and crew to dehydrate, then the boat in the workshop ready for GT Marine, well Dave to start to stick bits of paper on the console.

This means that our new boat will soon be ready to take you on your next adventure.
