Photos and videos of YS Falls sell the experience effortlessly but nothing beats being there and witnessing the magic first hand.
It is located on Jamaica’s South Coast near the Black River in St. Elizabeth Parish. The lure of YS is the multitude of waterfalls to be found there; seven in all. In addition to the waterfalls, visitors can also explore a tropical garden and plunge into pristine natural pools.
Having opened in 1992, YS Falls is one of Jamaica’s premier nature-based attractions offering our guests the opportunity to experience the beauty of the waterfalls, surrounded by lush gardens and magnificent trees. You won’t find any place in Jamaica with a shorter name than YS. The area was initially a cane farm with a factory (in the 1800s) before it was recognized as such a stunning visitor attraction. It was then known as YS Estate, and served as a supplier of logwood which in many instances would be bound for Europe.YS Falls is a seven-tiered waterfall, which cascades into natural pools for swimming, complemented by a natural pool. There are also extensive lawns which are perfect for family picnics or a day out. These are complemented by natural pools which are fed by underground and above ground springs for a refreshing swim.
