Wrapping up our discussion of the values that we put into our Jamaica Culinary Tours. As we would say in Jamaica 'it is not a buck up'. Every partner and every stop is planned with those values in mind and that means lots of behind the scenes work to get what and who we want.

It's hard work but we love it because we love Jamaica and we want to give you an experience that will make you love it too.

Join us on our tour and stay tuned for our newest project

Happy Memorial Day to our American Friends and Happy Labour Day to our Jamaican friends. Labour Day for us in Jamaica is a day in which individuals and corporations give voluntary service in various ways. We are still recovering from Hurricane Melissa - the worst storm to ever hit our shores, so many projects are about repair and restoration under the theme - "One People, One Purpose. In All Things, Jamaica Wins." We've been down but we're definitely NOT out!

There's a question we get all the time β€” what exactly is a food tour?
Our honest answer: it depends.
We've taken many food tours over the years. Some we never wanted to end. Others had us quietly checking our watches and wondering if anyone would notice if we slipped away early. πŸ˜„
When we created Jamaica Culinary Tours, we were determined to build the former β€” always. So we did what you do when one of your co-founders is a college professor: we sat down and wrote out our values. πŸ“‹
Our tours are built on six non-negotiables:
🌿 Fun β€” always
πŸ‡―πŸ‡² Authentic and community-based β€” no tourist versions of Jamaica here
πŸ“– Informative β€” you will leave knowing things you didn't know before
🍽️ A genuine bellyful of food β€” we mean this literally
✨ Memorable β€” the kind of day you talk about for years
πŸ’š Leaving you wanting more β€” more food, more culture, more of the Jamaica we know and love!

This week we will take you behind the scenes and show you exactly what a Roots & Routes tour feels like from the inside. Stay tuned. πŸ‘€

Jamaicans have a saying for Everything. Here's one that you probably won't have heard before unless you are Jamaican.....

Jamaicans have a saying for Everything. Here's one that you probably won't have heard before unless you are Jamaican....."What sweet nanny goat ago run him belly." πŸ‡―πŸ‡² Translation: What tastes sweet now may bring trouble later.

This one is about more than food β€” it is about shortcuts, quick fixes, and the things that look good until they don't. Our grandparents packed more wisdom into one sentence than most self-help books manage in three hundred pages. At Jamaica Culinary Tours, we believe the best things take time. Our tour guides don't rush the stories. Our vendor partners don't rush the food. Real flavour β€” in cooking and in life β€” needs time to develop.

Which Jamaican proverb did you grow up hearing? Share it below β€” we want to hear them all! πŸ‘‡πŸ‡―πŸ‡²

Sure you've heard about Jamaica's Blue Mountain Coffee but did you know that Japan buys 80% of all Blue Mountain coffee produced β€” meaning the rest of the world competes for the remaining 20%? Yup - it is that good!

Our Blue Mountain coffee is amongst the top three most expensive coffees in the world because it is so limited. We grow a lot of coffee but only coffee grown within a specific zone in the mountains is BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE so don't be fooled. Want to know more about Blue Mountain coffee? Talk to us about curating a tour for you that will answer all your questions.
