World Turtle Day reminds us of something truly powerful:
these ancient ocean travelers have survived for over 100 million years — and today, they need our protection more than ever.

Among them is the Hawksbill Sea Turtle 🐢 — a critically endangered species, known for its beautiful shell and vital role in maintaining healthy coral reef ecosystems.

But due to illegal trade, habitat loss, pollution, and climate change, their survival is under serious threat.
This is why conservation matters.

The Project 🐢 in Jamaica is working on the front lines to protect nesting beaches, rescue hatchlings, and give these turtles a safer chance to reach the ocean.
Every small life that reaches the sea is a victory for nature.

💙 Protect what cannot protect itself.
💙 Save the ocean’s ancient travelers.
💙 Every hatchling counts.

The 10th and final day of the round trip of Jamaica has come! With the island's most famous waterfalls, Dunn's River Falls, our guests enjoyed a wonderful conclusion to their adventurous, 10-day round trip.
We then set off on our final drive to Negril, where they will spend a few more days relaxing on the beach at the Country Country Hotel. It was there that we experienced our first rain. The skies wept because this beautiful journey, shared with such lovely, delightful guests, has now come to an end. What remains are beautiful memories on both sides.

We had a truly musical 9th day of our round trip around Jamaica on Mother's Day! Late in the morning, we attended a gospel service with lots of singing, clapping, and dancing. Our guests were warmly welcomed by the congregation, receiving a welcome that was heartfelt and even included a written note on the screen and shared hugs and greetings with the church members. At the end of the service, we even received a Mother's Day gift!
Our scheduled cooking class at Geddes Great House ended up being a bit shorter than planned, as we had spontaneously decided to do something special that evening! We made our own lemongrass juice, prepared the garlic butter, and then lent the chef a helping hand.
The excitement was palpable, for our spontaneous decision to go to the Tarrus Riley concert (😍) for Mother's Day. It turned out to be an unforgettable evening filled with fun, great music, and fantastic entertainment for our reggae-loving guests.

The eighth day of our round trip began with a brief visit to the Errol Flynn Marina in Port Antonio.
On our way to Ocho Rios, we stopped at the Oracabessa Fish Sanctuary. Fishing is prohibited within this 90-hectare area to allow fish populations to recover. They also cultivate endangered coral species and transplant them into the reef here! What a great project!
In Ocho Rios, we had a strong Ital Sip at the Reggae Pot, our favorite Rastarant, before diving into the bustling atmosphere of the typical Saturday market! The array of vegetables, tropical fruits, and spices along with a glimpse inside the slaughterhouse made for a truly fascinating experience. Adding to the excitement were the market vendors, loudly hawking their goods to passersby. We purchased the necessary ingredients for our upcoming cooking class.
Upon arriving at our final accommodation of this round trip, the Geddes Great House, our hostess, Sarah, immediately gave us a tour of the estate and its magnificent garden.
In the evening, we enjoyed a three-course meal served at a beautifully set dining table.

Day 7 of our round trip around Jamaica was a chill-out day! It began with a leisurely bamboo raft ride on the Rio Grande. Surrounded by breathtaking nature and water birds, our guests let their captain guide them downstream.
Then they spent the afternoon at the beautiful Frenchman's Cove beach.
In the evening, we enjoyed street food in Port Antonio. Jerk Conch, Jerk Fish, and Jerk Chicken. Dining by the water as the sun set.

The sixth day of our round trip around the island took us across the Blue Mountains to Port Antonio on the northeast coast. During a scenic drive passing waterfalls, swinging bridges, and fascinating views we made several stops for photos and enjoyed the vibes.
At the Blue Lagoon, our guests got a swim in the warm and cold currents, accompanied by the amazing company of two sea turtles!
We then ended the day at Winnifred Beach, relaxing with a Red Stripe beer or two from the beach bars.

The jam-packed fifth day of our round trip in Jamaica began with a visit to the Bob Marley Museum. In the former home of the reggae legend, our guests learned a lot about Marley's life and work.

A stroll through Hope Gardens, the largest botanical garden in the Caribbean, was a must for our former flower shop owner. There were many wonderful tropical plants to admire, the kind you only see as potted plants in Germany. A doctor bird hummingbird greeted us there.

Afterwards, we headed to the Blue Mountains. At the Craighton Coffee Plantation, we saw how the famous Blue Mountain Coffee is grown and, of course, got to taste it.

After checking into our accommodation, we explored the surrounding area on a hike to Gordon Town. Our destination was Penfield Waterfall, a popular meeting spot for locals. We enjoyed a cold Red Stripe beer there before heading back.

On day four of our roundtrip we visited the Appleton Rum Factory after breakfast. Having reopened just a few weeks ago, our guests got a vivid demonstration of the production process for Jamaica's famous rum.

Then we set off for the capital, Kingston. There, we enjoyed a city tour, stopping at the city's highlights. We sampled delicious ice cream at Devon House, admired the murals in Waterlane, strolled along the waterfront, and marveled at the Bob Marley statue, as well as the statue of the sprinters at the National Stadium.

In the evening, we experienced a true cultural highlight: the Kingston Night Market! Jamaican handicrafts, typical Jamaican food, and musical performances made for a wonderful evening. The market traditionally began with the national anthem!

On the third day of our round trip of Jamaica, we spent the morning visiting the crocodiles in the Black River. They appeared in great numbers and smiled for the camera. Afterwards, it was time to chill out at the Pelican Bar, situated right out in the middle of the sea. There, a stingray stopped by to say hello, and a round of Domino was a must.
Next, we went beach-hopping through Treasure Beach, visiting Fort Charles Beach, Billy's Bay Beach, and Frenchman's Beach. For dinner, we ate at Diner's Delight, hosted by Angie. The Curry Beef completed our list of curry dishes so far—following Curry Conch, Curry Chicken, and Curry Goat! 😄
