Finally, here is the encounter between lions in heat 🐆 and a herd of buffaloes 🐃 in the Masai Mara, Kenya. It was the most exciting part of our Safari adventure. Many people don't realize how dangerous buffaloes really are. They were the most intimidating animals we saw. They are huge and have been known to charge vehicles. Even our driver was scared. Elephants will get aggressive when protecting their young so we didn't overstay our welcome. These are truly majestic creatures yet they continue to be slaughtered for their ivory tusks at alarming rates. Thanks to strong conservation efforts elephants are still fairly common to see in the Mara yet at the rate that they are being slaughtered around Africa they will likely be on the critically endangered list in the not too distant future.

The Mara river in the Masai Mara is the scene of the annual great migration. We saw many hippos and alligators. Hippos are among the most deadly animals in Africa on average killing more people than lions each year.
