It's my first experiment transplanting garlic, I hope I found a good space for them to grow tall over the next months 🤞🤞... but just look at those beautiful roots 😍🤩😇🤩

I am constantly surrounded by fresh food, everwhere I look from the moment I wake up and look outside I see food producing plants, neighbors and friends come by with produce or exchange goods. Food is life, it gives people joy. That also means we mostly eat seasonal which is an immense change in lifestyle. With this incredible quality and quantity of available ingredients just from our street and farms alone I don't want anything to go bad am an constantly trying to preserve as much as possible and am always experimenting new ways to make one ingredient into as many different dishes as possible.
I only freestyle cook, I am somehow incapable of following recipes or making the same dish look and taste exactly alike. Every fruit, veg, nut, leaf, seed etc. has its own characteristics, form, taste, sweetness. One coconut will never taste exactly like the next, two guavas from the same tree will have different consistencies and won't neccessarily share the same color and sweetness. Every piece of produce is an individual and that's how we have to treat our ingredients while preparing them.

Most of the ingredients om the plate come from our and our community's farms (in () below), some of them which I had harvested in the morning fresh.
● coconut rice (coconut, turmeric)
● cucumber salad (cucumber, sorrel bird pepper, lime, basil)
● callalloo summer rolls in tahini sauce (lemon, ginger, bird pepper)
Paired with fresh juices (guava, sorrel, june plum etc...) - das in the shot of rum for the vibes

Nature is true power
This year Jamaica was hit with extreme weather situations back to back affecting everyone: month long droughts leading to bush fires followed by month long heavy rains and storms leading to landslides.
Every morning you wake up and breath remember that plants give you oxygen and everytime you eat fresh produce remember that nature fed you - so let's stop interfering with Mama Earth and let her do her thing so we can continue to live.
This is the view out my bedroom window and I cannot be more grateful to wake up every morning being reminded of nature's impact.
