Aqaba Marine Reserve has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site! 🇯🇴🌊

At the northernmost tip of the Red Sea, Aqaba is home to an extraordinary marine ecosystem of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mesophotic reefs — supporting an incredible diversity of marine life.

Its coral reefs are among the most remarkable in the world, known for their exceptional resilience to marine heatwaves, high salinity and rising summer temperatures. Over thousands of years, these reefs have adapted to some of the Red Sea’s most challenging conditions.

The reserve protects 150+ species of hard coral, 500+ species of fish and around 1,000 species of molluscs, including many species found nowhere else on Earth. 🌍🐠

This recognition places Aqaba’s underwater world on the global map and celebrates Jordan’s responsibility to protect one of the Red Sea’s most extraordinary natural treasures.
