Happy Jerusalem Day to the City of David!
A city built 4000 BCE during the Canaanite/Israelite period (before both Christianity and Islam ever existed) as the center of the Kingdom of Judah!
Since then, Jerusalem has survived occupation by many empires (Note, Al Aqsa Mosque sits on the ruins of the Second Temple).
Jerusalem was finally freed in 1967 from Jordan. (Note, never Palestine).
Back under Jewish control, Jerusalem is once again accessible to all people of all faiths!

With less than 2 weeks before the big event, a physician from New Jersey contacted me about planning her son's bar-mitzvah in Jerusalem! I was hesitant to take on the project with it being so last minute, but decided to accept the challenge. From transportation to balloons, musicians, photographer and videographer, beautiful ceremony at the Kotel, restaurant accommodations, and even even a unique Torah scroll scribe experience, I was ecstatic we were able to make it happen for her sweet family!

Today is the 9th of the month of Av in the Jewish calendar. It is a holiday of mourning for the Jewish people in memory of significant tragedies that befell them.
🔥 King Solomon built the *First Temple* 1000 years before Christ which was destroyed by the Babylonians and the Jews were exiled to Babylon.
🔥The Jews returned to Judea 500 years later and re-built Jerusalem and the *Second Temple* under King Herod. The Second Temple stood for 500 years where Al-Aqsa Mosque stands today. Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans after a 5 month seige during which 1 million Jews died after starvation, murder, and finally selling to slavery or perishing in gladiator fights.
🔥A few Jews survived and set up camp in Masada until they committed su***de to avoid the same fate.
🙏 Orthodox Jews believe that the third and final Temple will be built on the same site as the other two when the Messiah comes. The Temple Mount is the holiest site in the Jewish religion and is the place all Jews turn to when praying. Currently, Jews pray to one of the walls holding up the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, called the Western Wall.
🙏 Muslims believe it is the place where Muhammad ascended to heaven and is their third holiest site, currently occupied by the Al-Aqsa mosque, controlled by Waqf (combined Jordanian-Palestinian control). It has been under Muslim control since the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem in 1187.
