It's time for GLOBAL GOOD!

Since the very beginning, I've always tried to ensure that our expeditions are a force for good in the communities we visit.

Now it's time to take that commitment a step further.

Going forward, I'll be seeking out local, grassroots charities and organisations that support the people who make these trips possible, and I'll be donating to them.

I'm sharing this in the spirit of transparency because, over time, I'd like to facilitate more opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference too.

The first organisation I'd like to highlight is

The Kathmandu Environmental Education Project has worked tirelessly to create a more sustainable future for tourism in Nepal while improving the lives of many across the country.

Their initiatives range from rural community development and wilderness first aid training, to environmental education and awareness.

The area I've chosen to support specifically is their Porter Welfare Program, which helps improve the safety, health, and wellbeing of porters through education, training, and access to appropriate equipment.

Porters are the hardest-working people on the mountain, and no Himalayan expedition would be possible without them.

This is the first step in Global Good - many more to come.

I still haven't fully processed the sheer magnitude of the adventure we just had.

The mountains, the views, the people... The best in the world.

Multi-day treks are all consuming.

Every moment is spent living in the moment.

The physical and mental struggles. Checking in with your own body, as well as that of the team.

After hearing about an awful weather window just a week before we arrived, to then witness one of the most severe downpours I've ever seen back in Kathmandu right after we returned...

But as they say, "the sun always shines on Global Shenanigans"

Mark this down as yet another Global Shenanigans adventure that has landed not a moment too soon, nor a minute too late.

Too blessed to be stressed.

An experience as profound as a trek in the Himalaya takes weeks, even months to process.

So stay tuned, there's plenty more to come 🇳🇵

p.s. next year's ABC & EBC treks are live and already getting booked up!

Never have I experienced Kathmandu like this!

A local told me they hadn't seen this kind of downpour for at least 3-4 years.

The amount of rain that came down in such a short window was unbelievable.

We went out for dinner and it was dry, then just as we paid and got ready to leave, the heavens opened up.

The street turned into a flowing river.

The drains burst open and turned into fountains.

All we could do was... Order another beer and wait for it to all blow over.

It took less than two hours.

Or so we thought.

The final corner before reaching our hotel was a knee deep river crossing.

The store owners were in high spirits, all joking and laughing, encouraging anyone intrepid enough to wade through.

One person said to me, "welcome to the Kathmandu swimming pool!"

Which was very funny until tripped on a hidden drain and actually went for a swim.

Everyday's an adventure!

Did I plan the entire Everest Base Camp trek itinerary so that the Namche Bazaar celebration day, two days after base camp, would coincide with my birthday, so we could all go for birthday beers at the world's highest Irish bar... or is that just a coincidence?

Guess we'll never know.

Special shout out to my Nepal team for magic-ing up a birthday cake at 3440m, that was a surprise!

We managed to eat half of it then shared it out with the other trekkers and guides and the teahouse.

I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of people to spend it with - thanks for making it a fun day in such a special place, even if we had to wake up at 3 a.m., walk 16km followed by 20 the next day 🍻

Too blessed to be stressed 🙏🧘‍♂️

We spun prayer wheels, have been serenaded by healing bowls, visited stupa, temples, shrines and other ancient historic religious sites.

We've spent the previous two days learning about the deep religious and spiritual beliefs of the Nepalese people in Kathmandu, and have even been blessed by holy man.

All we can do now is hope the Gods, karma, good fortune and good weather are on our side as we begin our journey towards Everest Base Camp early tomorrow, pre-dawn.

Whatever happens, we are ready.

There's no way you'd see this beauty and NOT try get inside surely???

Every single guy in every group that arrived tried it, nobody succeeded.

Probably a good thing because the power would have split you in half.

I didn't realise how many people were unaware of this.

It's super simple. No tricks.

Just that hotels and Airbnbs would rather have people in the rooms than them being empty.

A lot of booking sites have auto-discounts set for 24, 48 and 72 hours.

It's one of the ways I'm able to travel full-time and still have some comfort now and then.

Try it for yourself: look up your next holiday destination right now, and set the date for tomorrow.

You'll be amazed at what you can find!

Thanks everyone who wished for more snow in Niseko for Christmas - Santa delivered a boxing day storm! 🧑‍🎄🎁

How can you escape the crowd when you are the crowd?!

The best way to experience the wilderness is with small groups.

That's why we keep our group sizes intentionally small.

The trekking trips are limited to just 10 people, and one of the kayak groups is capped at 6!

This is how you build connection.

To the people you are adventuring with, to your purpose, goals and intentions, and to the natural world around you.

Every aspect of a Global Shenanigans Expedition is designed with the guest experience at the heart of it.

We don't make business decisions. We make experience decisions.

Sound like your kind of people?

Comment the word 'CONNECT' below and I'll send you more details.

The Adventure Club is waiting!!!

(p.s. all trip deposits are 50% off until the end of the year 🧑‍🎄)
