If you've only got a limited amount of time on the island, signing up for a Black Diamond Tour is the best way to guarantee yourself the freshest tracks. We are based out of Black Diamond Lodge in Niseko ski resort – Hokkaido's biggest and most well known resort – but offer tours to all of Hokkaido's best resorts. Choose from our 1 day trips (guided or unguided), multi-resort packages, backcountry tours, snowmobiling and keep an eye out for our powderhunter specials. If you prefer to explore on your own, we rent 4WD vehicles, backcountry gear, ski/board equipment and offer a wealth of knowledge on where to go and what to do while you're here. Sapporo Kokusai is arguably the most well managed ski area in Hokkaido (except for of course the fact that you’re not allowed to shred under the gondola…) Facility wise, snow quality and accessible BC terrain are all top o’the line.

Instagram has removed our Hokkaido Backcountry Club page without warning. The appeal process (or lack thereof) involves only verifying who you are and has no where to ask questions. Apparently anyone can lodge a complaint and then the computers or the bots remove you. The appeal process can take weeks. I can only imagine that it is some of the illegal operators that we are battling against. Oh well I guess we double our efforts.

Our instagram page has been randomly removed by the wonderful AI robots hard at work. Seems like this is a frequent occurrence after doing a quick search. Oh well, we’ve been neglecting the page that started it all but glad to say we’re back! Please stay tuned to Black Diamond Tours exclusive new tours on offer for the 2026 season. Tours on the main island like no one else can do. There’s more to Japan than Hokkaido and we want to take you there!

This is not a hike for families but for skilled individuals that can handle slippery surfaces. Hiking poles would’ve been very helpful and a helmet is not a bad idea dude the possible falling rocks.
