Among the 170 varieties, the most symbolic is perhaps "Anne’s Rose," a special type tied to the German-born Jewish girl who wrote “The Diary of Anne Frank.” The varietal originated from a sapling sent to Japan by Anne’s father, which was then nurtured and propagated by a local family in Ayabe. This lookout on the mountain peak offers a view of the Mikatagoko, which are five lakes that border the Sea of Japan in Fukui Prefecture. The classic way to enjoy it is to take photos under a rental rainbow umbrella. From around mid-May to June, 600 roses of 110 varieties will be in full bloom.
Normally, the only public transportation from the station is by taxi, but from April 26 to November 24, 2025, the “Gokoichi Bus” will run from Tsuruga Station to Summit Park on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays only!
