A Magical Summer View: Bekku Rice Terraces ✨
【夏日推薦】奇蹟般的梯田美景✨

Hidden high in the mountains of Yabu City, Hyogo Prefecture, the breathtaking “Bekku no Tanada” is one of Kansai’s hidden scenic gems. Located about 700 meters above sea level, around 130 terraced rice fields stretch across the mountain slopes, creating beautiful seasonal landscapes throughout the year.
From the terraces, you can also see Mt. Hyonosen, the highest mountain in Hyogo Prefecture. The combination of green rice fields and mountain scenery creates a nostalgic view of rural Japan that feels almost unreal.

Yabu City is also home to two adorable local mascots: “Yappu,” whose head is inspired by Mt. Hyonosen, and Yappu’s friend “Yappy.” Their relaxed expressions are super cute!
You can find handmade goods such as straps and plush toys featuring the characters. Since they are handmade, each one has slightly different facial expressions and accessories, making every item unique.

位於兵庫縣養父市的半山腰、海拔約700公尺處的「別宮梯田」，是日本關西地區的隱藏版絕美景點之一。在山坡地上開闢出的約130塊田地，會隨著季節展現不同的美麗面貌。往梯田的正對面望去可以看到兵庫縣最高峰「冰之山」，農田與群山交織出的風景，充滿了日本傳統的純樸氣息。

夏におすすめの、奇跡のような棚田の絶景✨
兵庫県養父市の山の中腹、標高約700ｍに広がる「別宮の棚田」は、関西の隠れた絶景スポットのひとつ。山の斜面に作られた約130枚もの田んぼが、季節ごとに美しく変化します。棚田の正面には兵庫県最高峰の氷ノ山（ひょうのせん）が見え、田んぼと山が織りなす昔ながらの日本の景色が広がっています。

Romantic Rose Garden & a Healthy Local Café 🌹

Welcome to Ayabe Rose Garden, a beautiful park in Ayabe City, Kyoto Prefecture, about 70 minutes by train from Kyoto Station.
From late May to late June, around 1,200 roses of approximately 170 varieties burst into bloom, creating a stunning, storybook-like landscape. The garden is lovingly maintained by local volunteers, adding a warm, community touch to the experience. Don’t miss the Spring Rose Festival, held from May 16 to June 29.
Right next to the garden is Ayabe Gunze Square, a cultural complex where a gluten-free café, Manayui, opened in October 2025. Using locally grown tea and rice, this charming café offers dishes that are both beautiful and healthy. Their fragrant brown rice crepes are especially popular!

Nishiyama Shuzojo, a long-established brewery in Tanba City, Hyogo Prefecture, is surrounded by rich natural beauty. You can tour the brewery and sample its sake, but for a more casual way to experience sake brewing, fermentation culture, and the natural charm of the Tanba region, the brewery opened Koden in 2024, a complex dedicated to sake, fermentation, and art. At its café, you can enjoy a pairing lunch featuring seasonal sake and fermented dishes. There are also sweets made with the gentle sweetness of fermentation, without the use of refined sugar, available for purchase. It’s a place that can be enjoyed by everyone, from families and groups to those who don’t drink alcohol. Another charm of Nishiyama Shuzojo lies in its strong sense of artistry, seen in everything from product packaging to the design of the brewery itself. Wisteria typically reaches its peak from late April to mid-May. In recent years, the flowers have gained renewed popularity as a motif in the anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.”
At Byakugoji Temple in Tanba City, you can admire long, cascading wisteria blossoms that fall like a gentle shower. The temple’s tranquil setting offers a chance to experience a distinctly Japanese atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Shirai Omachi Fuji Park in Asago City features an impressive 500-meter-long wisteria trellis. Colorful koinobori (carp streamers), displayed alongside the wisteria, add to the charm.

例年4月下旬〜5月中旬に見頃を迎える藤。近年はアニメ『鬼滅の刃』のモチーフとしても人気が高まりました。丹波市の白毫寺では、長く垂れ下がる藤がまるでシャワーのように広がる様子を楽しめます。静かな寺院で日本らしい風情を味わいましょう。また、朝来市の白井大町藤公園には総延長500mという圧巻のスケールの藤棚が！色とりどりの鯉のぼりとの共演も魅力です。人気が高い藤ですが、この2カ所は比較的ゆったりと鑑賞できる穴場のスポットです。

While many people may be hoping to enjoy sakura in Osaka or Kyoto, the crowds can be a concern. If you’re looking for a quieter alternative, we recommend Yumura Onsen in northern Hyogo Prefecture. With a history of over 1,300 years, Yumura Onsen is a peaceful hot spring town. The Haruki River, which runs through the center of the town, is lined with natural hot springs, where you can casually soak your feet and relax. In spring, cherry trees along the river come into full bloom, creating a serene and quintessentially Japanese landscape. It’s a hidden gem where you can enjoy both beautiful spring scenery and traditional hot spring culture.

小編知道很多人都想到大阪或京都賞櫻，不過最讓人擔心的就是人擠人。因此這次要介紹一個從大阪出發，稍微走遠一點就能到達的推薦賞櫻景點。那就是位於兵庫縣北部的「湯村溫泉」，這是一個擁有超過1,300年歷史的靜謐溫泉街。流經溫泉街中心的「春來川」的沿岸，竟然有溫泉湧出！把腳浸進去就能輕鬆享受暖呼呼的溫泉～到了春天，春來川沿岸還有櫻花樹盛開，可以同時欣賞充滿日本風情的溫柔春日景色與溫泉文化，是一個祕境景點喔！

In 2026 as well, we’ll be sharing the many charms of the North Kansai region. If you’re planning a trip to Kyoto or Osaka, or looking to explore Japan’s lesser-known, deeper regions, be sure to follow along!
In Japan, the New Year is one of the most important annual events. People pray for happiness in the year ahead, wear or eat lucky items, and visit “power spots” to invite good fortune. One of the most iconic power spots in the Kansai region is Amanohashidate. This long sandbar stretching across the sea resembles a dragon ascending to the heavens, and for that reason, it is said to be auspicious. In winter, you may even catch a glimpse of a “white dragon” adorned with snow.
Amanohashidate is easily accessible via a direct limited express train from Kyoto, so the cold is no trouble at all. The surrounding area offers plenty of winter delights, from snowy scenery and tasty crab dishes to excellent local sake, making it a perfect winter destination.

In just a few days, a new year begins. Close to the hearts of Japanese people is the new year's tradition of "hatsumode." This is the first visit to a shrine or temple in each new year to pray for health and happiness in the coming months. If you're in the Kansai or Hokuriku areas over the holidays, why not take part in hatsumode at a historic shrine? One such sacred site is Kehi Jingu Shrine in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture. Said to have been founded over 1,300 years ago, this shrine is a symbol of the region. Its iconic towering torii gate rivals the famous gate of Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima. On the grounds is also a spot where you can drink spring water said to grant longevity. There's no better place to pray for good health in the coming year.
Since the shrine is in Tsuruga, a stop on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line, access is super easy from both Tokyo and Kansai!
