We always get asked what the easiest way up Mt. Fuji is.

Truth is, there isn't an "easy" route.
However, the Gotemba route is by far the longest route so it is the hardest. The shortest route is the Fujinomiya trail and we like to combine them.

Tokyo's hidden gem: Mt. Kumotori!

At 2017m it's the highest point in Japan's capital. Most people will think of neon lights and a densely populated metropolis when hearing, Tokyo, but it actually has some deep wilderness areas that you shouldn't miss!

Mt. Kumotori has historically been an important boundary to the capital.

On great weather days, displays some of the best views of Mount Fuji and even the Southern Alps National Park.

The day is complete with a great Onsen (hot spring) experience in rural Tokyo.

The Gotemba route is the longest trail on Mt. Fuji. Its 5th station (trailhead) is located at an elevation of 1400m which is a full 1000 vertical meter difference to the highest 5th station (Fujinomiya route, 2400m).

Since 2005, the Japanese Ministry of Environment has been tracking almost every climber on Mount Fuji using infrared cameras.

These counters are installed near the 8th Station on all four main trails to gather hard data.
