The Ogawa Clan’s Sesshu garden is open to the public, courtesy of the present owner. Call in advance in Japanese to make a reservation: ☎️0855-53-1213. 500 yen for adult admission.
The garden is over 500 years old and is an example of karesansui style, a dry rock garden. In older times water was channeled among the rocks and carp swam in the pond. Recently you can only see water flowing in the garden during heavy rain. The garden is just off Route 9, up a narrow track. If you’re driving, park and walk unless you have a very small car!
