Taking place on September 27 and 28, the Ibusuki Onsen Festival is a heartfelt tribute to the gods of the hot springs, thanking them for the steamy blessings that bubble up across Ibusuki, and praying they never dry up!
On Day 1, enjoy the lively Hanya Odori dance, with traditional songs sung live and accompanied by shamisen and taiko drums.

Every year on August 14th, the quiet shores of Kishira come alive with the divine dances of Hirata Shrine, a sacred tradition honoring deities enshrined in mirrors: Ohyamatsumi-no-mikoto, Kanayamahiko-no-mikoto, and Sarutahiko-no-mikoto.

Traditions aren't always ancient… 🎊
The Chiran Neputa Matsuri, initiated in 1996 through cultural exchanges between Chiran Town (Kagoshima) and Hirakawa City (Aomori), brings a northern spirit to the south!
On the night of July 26th, massive uchiwa fan-shaped Neputa floats, 5 meters tall and 4 meters wide, parade through Chiran, adorned with impressive warrior paintings.
To the sound of flutes and taiko drums, locals and tourists unite to carry the towering floats through the town...
