The monkeys at Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama are wild Japanese macaques that live naturally in the surrounding mountains, and often wander into the park area.

Come up, meet them, and enjoy watching them in their natural world 🐒

Just remember to be respectful so they stay comfortable and free.

🐕 The story of Hachiko

Hachiko was an Akita dog who used to meet his owner every day at Shibuya Station. Even after his owner suddenly passed away, Hachiko kept coming back and waiting in the same spot for about 9 years.

🐾 Today

His story is remembered around Shibuya through the famous station statue, a rooftop installation in the area, a monument showing him with his professor owner, and his preserved taxidermy at a major science museum in Tokyo.
