🌿 Wild, yet gentle.

Odamiyama Valley is one of those rare places where nature feels untouched but never intimidating.

Crystal-clear water winds through the valley, fresh greenery glows beneath the early summer sun, and the sound of the river seems to slow time itself.

In late May and June, the forest is at its freshest. New leaves emerge in countless shades of green, seasonal blooms appear quietly among the trees, and the cool mountain air offers a welcome escape from the early summer heat.

More than a scenic spot, Odamiyama is a place to pause - to wander, listen, and reconnect with nature at its gentlest.

Early summer in Uchiko means quiet rivers, warm night air, and thousands of fireflies dancing through the darkness. ✨️

Right now, the Kakihara River in Uchiko's Ikazaki area is said to be at its peak viewing period.

Far away from the crowds and city lights, this hidden riverside becomes one of the most magical nighttime scenes in rural Japan each year.

If you visit:
•Please park at the Ikazaki Community Center and walk to the river (about 10 minutes)

•The road is very dark at night, so bringing a flashlight is recommended

•Once you arrive, please turn off lights near the river to protect the fireflies

•Please do not catch the fireflies or park along the road/private property

Let's help preserve this beautiful seasonal scenery for future visitors and locals alike. 🫶

When Germany comes to Uchiko 🇩🇪🍻

Come enjoy a festive day full of beer, flavor and music right in the heart of Ehime!

More than just a beer festival, Uchiko’s German Festa brings an authentic and uniquely local German Festival experience to Japan.

Enjoy expertly crafted sausages from a Japanese butcher trained in our sister city Rothenburg o.d.T., specialties from local German-owned restaurants, and homemade roasted almonds alongside refreshing German beer and other delicacies.

From lively music and stage performances like the crowd-favorite 𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘥 – where everyone can join in – to a warm, energetic atmosphere, this festival is all about great food, fun, and unforgettable connections.

With its close-up, welcoming vibe, Uchiko’s German Festa stands out as a place where locals and visitors no matter what the nationality celebrate together.

Come join us on May 9, 2026 and raise a glass with us in Uchiko! 🍻

【March.15th Sunday】 Sleeping Buddha Festival at Koushou-ji temple in Uchiko Town, Ehime, Japan

Spring is around conner here in Uchiko Town.

On March 15th every year, Koushou-ji temple will hold a festival called "Nehan Matsuri" which means "Sleeping Buddha Festival" in Japanese.

At Koushou-ji temple, there is big Sleeping Buddha lying outside of the temple.
The sleeping Buddha is a statue that represents the Buddha's appearance when he died.

At the festival, local children will walk through the town dressing up in special kimono and it is so adorable.

There will be stage performance, food stand, throwing Mochi and prize and more!

If you are in Ehime prefecture on this day, I highly recommend to visit Uchiko Town and check out this festival. Koushou-ji temple is just around the corner of Yokaichi & Gokoku historic townscape, right next to the town parking.

You can also take a look at their hidden collections from March 3rd to 25th.

Hina dolls are now on display!

March 3rd is girls day in Japan and cerebrate their health and growth by decorating special dolls.

Hina means small or baby. Parents wish their baby girls to live a healthy life and have a good marriage.

It is said that if you put the Hina dolls back in the box later than the girls day, your daughter will missed a chance to get married.

But we are going to exhibit the Hina dolls until the beginning of April.

Why?

Well, we as in Uchiko residents celebrate the girls day April 3rd as in old calendar of Japan.

Each dolls have different faces and kimonos depending on when they are made and who made them.

Enjoy spring of Uchiko and stop by each museum to look at Hina dolls!
