SPECIAL EXHIBITION
TSUTAYA JŪZABURŌ:CREATIVE VISIONARY OF EDO till June 15 2025.
My husband and I love NHK historical epic drama based on the story of TSUTAYA Juzaburo who was the producer of art works by Utamaro, Sharaku, and Hokusai. A lot of famous Ukiyoe came out with his support. At this exhibition you can see many Ukiyoe and small books Tsutaya Juzaburo published. It’s amazing so many Japanese people could read to enjoy those books and various books were reasonable price for ordinary people to buy in late 1700s.

Kuroda Memorial hall, part of Tokyo National Museum is beautifully preserved historical building, open to public for free. “Viscount Kuroda Seiki (黒田 清輝, August 9, 1866 – July 15, 1924) was a Japanese painter and teacher, noted for bringing Western art theory and practice to a wide Japanese audience.”from Wikipedia. You can enjoy his art in quiet locations. Best place for art lover❤️Sorry ,photo taking of art works there is prohibited so I can’t show how just arts are impressive with this post but you will be glad if you get the chance to visit.

Japanese Public transportation travel tip

Regarding Trains

1) Make sure the train you are going to take is running as scheduled, especially in rural area where detour routes are difficult to set.

For example, Minobu line running from Kofu station in Yamanashi prefecture to Fuji station in Shizuoka prefecture frequently stops because of falling rocks or bamboo, heavy rain, or disturbing wild animals.

2) Make sure you have appropriate tickets.
JR user usually enjoy convenience of SUICA to get on and off the train

BUT

You can’t use SUICA on some lines such as

-Minobu line between Kofu in Yamanashi prefecture and Fuji in Shizuoka prefecture

-Koumi line between Kobuchizawa station in Yamanashi prefecture and Komoro station in Nagano prefecture
