WAK JAPAN offers a variety of Japanese cultural experiences such as tea ceremony, calligraphy, kimono wearing, origami, Japanese cooking etc. Also we have a unique program in which you visit the instructor’s home and do each workshop with a feeling of being at home.

🍵🌿 留学生と一緒に茶の湯かるた＆茶道体験 🌿🍵

先日、わくわく館にて「留学生と一緒に茶の湯かるたと茶道を楽しむ会」を開催しました！
英語や茶の湯に興味のある幼児・小学生とその保護者の皆様、そして留学生が集まり、世代や国を超えた楽しい交流の時間となりました✨

まずは「茶の湯かるた」に挑戦！
留学生も一生懸命日本語を聞き取りながら、子どもたちと白熱の勝負🔥
年齢や国籍を超えて一緒に楽しめるのが、かるたの魅力です。札を取った後は、そこに書かれた「茶の湯の心」を日本語と英語の両方で学びました🍃

休憩時間には、ガーナ出身の留学生がガーナの遊びを紹介してくれました🇬🇭
子どもも大人も一緒になって大盛り上がり！笑顔があふれる交流の時間となりました😊

その後は、ワックジャパンのベテラン茶道講師による本格的な茶道体験。
お茶会でのお作法を学び、点てたてのお抹茶をいただきました🍵
本格的なお抹茶は、小さなお子さまには少し苦く感じられたかもしれません🍵
一方で、夏らしい涼やかな水まんじゅうは皆さんに大好評！
笑顔で召し上がる姿がとても印象的でした✨

日本の伝統文化を楽しみながら、世界とつながる。
そんな夏のひとときになっていたら嬉しく思います🌿

A wonderful family of three joined our Bento Making Experience in a traditional Japanese machiya. 🏡🍱

A Japanese bento is more than just a lunchbox—it reflects care, balance, seasonality, and the warmth of preparing a meal for someone you love.

It was a pleasure to share this beautiful part of Japanese culture and see our guests create their own colorful, homemade bento together. We hope this experience becomes a cherished memory of their time in Japan.

✨ Welcome to Our HomeVisit Cooking Program! ✨

This is a one-of-a-kind special program offered exclusively by WAKJAPAN, where guests visit a local instructor’s home, experience Japanese culture firsthand, and get a glimpse into everyday life in Japan.

We welcome guests from all over the world every day, and our instructors warmly host them in their homes with genuine hospitality and care.

Compared to our Machiya experiences, this program offers a more intimate and homely atmosphere, making it a truly unique cultural experience.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting guests from the USA and the UK for our Home Visit Obanzai Program. Both groups enjoyed learning about and tasting traditional Japanese home-cooked dishes!

After shopping for fresh ingredients at the vibrant Nishiki Market, our guests from Texas enjoyed a hands-on rolled sushi-making experience in a traditional Kyoto machiya kitchen. Following a handwritten recipe prepared by the instructor, they learned about Japanese seasonings, cooking techniques, and the art of home-style Japanese cuisine. A memorable cultural experience filled with learning, creativity, and delicious homemade rolled sushi! ✨

Experience of Kimonos at Wakuwaku-kan

Everyone looked absolutely wonderful in their kimonos. They wore them beautifully and seemed to be truly enjoying the experience.

In fact, they were repeat visitors—they had visited us seven years ago as well.

We were delighted to welcome a wonderful family from London to our popular private tea ceremony experience.

Their trip to Japan is a special celebration of the son’s university graduation and 21st birthday.
