Guide in Kyoto

Guide in Kyoto I provide customized private tours of Kyoto and make you discover its wonderful nature and secrets The view is something we don't want you to miss!

Visiting Kyoto can be overwhelming, there is just so much to see! Following a guide book will not lead you along the lesser known, but oh so charming, little streets and secret places of this ancient city. The residents of Kyoto chose to settle here because of the wonderful natural landscape present, a picturesque view of mountain ranges surrounding a grand central river. In this tour, we will go

hiking to the best scenic points to see the hills and waterfalls. We will ride bicycles along small streams and into back alleyways, as well as visit the most charming temples and shrines in Kyoto. You should try an outdoors natural thermal bath and admire the mountainous view, while relaxing both your body and mind. After all the adventures, you will enjoy the best ramen in town to rejuvenate yourself for a new day. There is an itinerary available for all groups, ranging from half a day to a whole week. Just let me know your interests and I will tailor a tour just for you. Some highlights include:
The Kyoto Trail hiking course
Daimonji mountain, a short hike leading to the best view of Kyoto and Osaka
Kurama Onsen and Kurama Temple (famous thermal source)
Arashiyama and the bamboo forest
Tetsugaku no michi (philosopher's path) and it's cherry blossom
Temples: Ginkakuji, Kinkakuji, Daitokuji, Kyomizudera, and more lesser known temples
Gion Machi, where Geishas live in traditional wooden houses
Small restaurants to eat ramen, sushi, izakaya, yakitori

You name it or just rely on my advice and we will make a list of what you want to do and plan accordingly.

The rainy season is still hanging on in Japan, and Kyoto is no exception! Some of us may not like the rain so much, but these flowers certainly do! Do you know what they are? In Japanese they're called “ajisai”, and in English… ?

Hydrangeas! Hydrangeas are very popular in summertime here in Japan, and show up in art, as décor, on kimono, and in gardens all over. These ajisai blooming near our office are most vibrant and blue right after a light rain. Did you know? Depending on the mineral content of the soil in which they are planted, hydrangeas will change color! What color of hydrangeas do you have near you? Why not share your hydrangea picture with us?
