I lived in Japan for 15 years, during which time I studied tea ceremony, Japanese dance, and ceramics. I am currently a practicing Ikebanist, licensed as a teacher under the Sogetsu foundation. Since 2010 I have been offering intimate hands-on learning tours that focus on Japanese arts and culture. Currently located in Park City, Utah, USA- check out our US based activities at or www.petalclay.com

If you enjoy off the beaten path and quieter spaces, I recommend the Edo-Tokyo Architectural Museum in Hana-Koganei. Here you can experience Japanese aesthetics on a visceral level while wandering through amazing buildings and homes from various eras, have a lovely tea and cake in a Victorian style home from 1910, and see buildings that inspired Miyazaki Hayao’s designs for Spirited Away. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edo-Tokyo_Open_Air_Architectural_Museum

And another lovely exhibition honoring Japanese Americans coming up soon in Utah.
