✨ Mount Kono (Yamazoe Village, Nara Pref.) ⛰️✨

Mt. Kono is one of the best stargazing spots in the Kansai region, where you can encounter a night sky so full of stars it feels like they are falling on you. Actually, this is a mysterious place where ancient cosmic romance can be found not just up in the sky, but also right on the ground!

Surprisingly, the arrangement of the giant stones scattered along Nabekura-kei (Nabekura Valley)—a "river of rocks" on the mountainside—is said to match the alignment of the Milky Way, the Summer Triangle, Scorpius, and other constellations from about 4,000 years ago. It truly is like a "planetarium on earth."

Now solar lights illuminate Nabekura-kei after dark until August 30th.

Why not visit Mount Kono this summer and experience its mystical atmosphere? 🌌🔭

I went for a stroll around Nabari's historic old town in the heat of over 35°C / 95°F (don't worry, I wore a hat, drank plenty of water, and didn't walk for more than an hour)!
Nabari old town is located near Nabari Station, along the Hase Kaido—one of the important route options for the Ise Pilgrimage connecting the Yamato region (modern-day Nara) and Ise during the Edo period. By exploring on foot, I learned about its history and found so many nostalgic remnants of the past.

One of the most popular dining spots in our area, Kinoko no Yakata, or “Mushroom House” in Higashiyoshino Village, is now open again after a temporary closure!

As the name suggests, mushrooms are the highlight, but you can also enjoy local game dishes such as wild boar and venison 🍽️
