SOBA FESTIVAL IN TOGAKUSHI Oct 31st~Nov24th

During the festival soba noodles made from newly harvested buckwheat are offered to the gods of Togakushi Shrine.
For those who want to taste them you can join the Hanzaru tabe-aruki by purchasing the ticket book.
I will write more details in September but already take your mark if you are a soba gourmet !

Late summer in sacred woods in TOGAKUSHI.
We invite you to the divine performance with powerful Japanese drum’s vibration and splendid dance of exceptional ballet dancer. The man chosen by the spirit of Japanese drums, Satou Kensaku, solo Taiko player having performed in the closing ceremony of Tokyo 2020 Olympic games will show a collaboration performance Ryokufū (green breeze) with principal dancer of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in Monaco, Koike Mimoza in the hidden theater in the woods Zeshiki-kan in Togakushi, Nagano.
Please come and feel the lively breeze of a magical fusion of two great artists.

The Daidai-Kagura at Togakushi Jinja.

As in western countries, people in Japan also offer up songs of their gods and sacred dances to their deities. This ritual dance is called Daidai-Kagura. Worshippers dedicate the Daidai-Kagura in gratitude for blessings received or as a prayer for divine protection.
Togakushi Jinja's Daidai-Kagura is quite unique compared to others, which is why it was designated as a Nagano prefectural intangible cultural asset in 2015.

The rainy season should soon finish and summer can start. Togakushi has a remarkable biodiversity. Last day, I met a dragonfly taking a break on a Giboshi flower(Hosta ) in my garden.

I went to a workshop of Kensaku, our famous
"Taiko Master" in Togakushi.
Actually, it was more like a very interesting body work before trying to make a sound with Japanese drums.
Kensaku Sato will collaborate with a classical dancer (Mimoza keiko) for a performance in Togakushi on August 26/27.
I will inform you more in details later but already take your brand and plan to visit Togakushi on that date.
