Kokin Denju no Sato Museum, Gujo Yamato.

This place is dedicated to the tradition of Kokin Denju — the transmission of knowledge surrounding the Kokin Wakashū, the classical anthology of waka poetry that shaped early Japanese literary culture.

During the Muromachi period, this lineage moved beyond the capital and into provincial custodianship, notably to the Tō clan, who once ruled the Gujo domain from a hilltop castle in Yamato.

The architecture by Toyoo Ito echoes the layered meaning, lightness, and depth of waka poetry.

郡上大和・古今伝授の里フィールドミュージアム。

ここは、古今和歌集に関わる知の伝承「古今伝授」の伝統を伝える場です。古今和歌集は、日本の初期文学文化を形づくった和歌の古典的歌集です。

室町時代、この系譜は都を離れ、地方へと受け継がれました。その担い手のひとつが、かつて大和の山城を拠点に郡上を治めた東氏でした。

伊東豊雄による建築は、和歌の重層的な意味や軽やかさ、そして奥行きを静かに響かせています。
