🎌 Journey to Asuka Village in Nara, the birthplace of Japanese culture. 🏔
Asuka Village is known as the cradle of Japanese, a capital before Kyoto and laid the foundation for Japan's nationhood. Even today, the village retains a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of the past.
Upon arriving at Asuka Station, be sure to visit the "Asuka Bito No Yakata Tourist Information Center (飛鳥びとの館)" located just in front of the station. Here, you can rent traditional clothing and explore the historical sites as if you were a resident of Asuka from centuries ago!
Whether you choose to visit the "Ishibutai Burial Mound (石舞台古墳)" with its impressive stone mound or the beautiful "Okadera Temple (岡寺)" adorned with seasonal flowers and featuring a vibrant red three-story pagoda, every corner of Asuka offers unique and charming photo opportunities that will provide unforgettable memories from your trip.
In addition to the historical sites, Asuka is also home to delicious local treats. Be sure to try the "Ofuku-Bento" from Hagiou (萩王), a Japanese restaurant nestled in the picturesque old town. This bento box is filled with over ten meticulously prepared dishes made from local ingredients, showcasing both beautiful presentation and authentic Japanese flavors.
Another highlight of Asuka is "Asuka Strawberry Picking Park (あすかいちごがりパーク)", a strawberry picking destination open until the end of May. Here, you can enjoy picking and tasting Nara's famous "Asuka Ruby" strawberries, known for their vibrant red color that shines like rubies, for an unlimited 30 minutes!
Although Asuka may not be a well-known destination, it's a place full of charm and the atmosphere of old Japan. We highly recommend adding it to your next Japan trip list!
