◇◆6月29日・30日: 男神社で「万灯祭」＆「茅の輪くぐり」（夏越の祓）30日には夜店も！◆◇
June 29 & 30: Lantern Festival & Nagoshi no Harae” Ritual (Chinowa Kuguri) at Ono-jinja Shrine　

2025年の折り返しとなる6月30日がもうすぐ！

泉南市男里にある「男（おの）神社」でも「夏越の大祓（なごしのおおはらえ）」の神事がおこなわれます。

「夏越の大祓」とは、半年の罪や穢れをはらって、残り半年の無病息災をお祈りする神事

【 #茅の輪くぐり】
29日(日)・30日(月)の2日間は、拝殿の前に「茅の輪（ちのわ）」が設置され、参拝者がそれをくぐって、残り半年を健康ですごせるようお祈りすることができます。

ご家族でくぐりに来られる方がたくさん！くぐり方は､茅の輪のそばに説明パネルが。

29日は終日、30日は夏越の大祓神事が執り行われる午後11時まではOK。

29・30日には、参道に灯ろうが並び、暗くなると点灯されます。23時まで。

大切なひとたちがこれから半年間無病息災でいられるよう願って、地域のみなさんが献灯された灯り‥

お参りする人たちを拝殿へと導いてくれるように優しい光を放っています

30日は夕方から、第一の鳥居の近くの参道に夜店も♪　

【 #茅の輪守り】
茅の輪に、境内にあるご神木、無患子（ムクロジ）の実をつけたお守りです。30日まで授与予定だそうですが、限定数のためなくなり次第終了だそう。

近隣のみなさんが徒歩や自転車で来られます。気をつけてくださいね。

駐車場は台数が限られています。なるべく乗り合わせてお越しください。

The year's halfway point, June 30th, is just around the corner!

At Ono-jinja Shrine, the Nagoshi no Oharae purification ritual will be held.
Nagoshi no Oharae is a Shinto ritual to cleanse oneself of sins and impurities accumulated over the first half of the year, and to pray for good health and safety during the remaining half.

🌟On the 29th and the 30th, a large ring made of chigaya grass (chinowa) will be set up in front of the worship hall. Visitors can walk through the ring to pray for good health in the coming months.

On the 29th, you can go through the ring all day. On the 30th, it’s available until 11 PM, when the Nagoshi no Oharae rite is taking place.

🌟On both the 29th and 30th, lanterns will line the pathway leading through the shrine approach, and will be lit after dark, until 11 PM.

🌟On the evening of the 30th, night stalls will appear near the first torii gate along the path!

🌟 The special “chinowa” charms each with a seed from the sacred Mukuroji tree attached are available.

As the kanji characters for "Mukuroji" (無患子) suggests, it’s a talisman for good health and protection from illness.
As the charm is limited in quantity, it will only be available while supplies last.

Parking is limited, so we kindly ask that you carpool whenever possible.

◇◆6月23日：埋蔵文化財センターの古代ハス◆◇
June 23: Ancient Lotus at the Sennan City Archaeology Center

泉南市埋蔵文化財センターの古代ハスが開きました！
まだまだつぼみも多いのでしばらく楽しませてくれそうです☺

「古代ハス」とは、故大賀博士が、1951年に2,000年前の地層から発見し、発芽
に成功した「大賀ハス」　のこと。

埋文センターは、飛鳥時代の大寺院跡「国史跡・海会寺跡広場」の道を隔てて向
い側にあり、海会寺跡からの出土品（国の重要文化財）302点を一部常設展示し
ているのですが…

その中には、ハスの花をデザインした美しい瓦があり、それらの中には、大阪市の四天王寺、奈良県桜井市の大寺院跡・吉備池廃寺で見つかった瓦と同じ木型で作られた瓦があります。造営の記録が残っていない謎の多い大寺院「海会寺」の謎を解く重要な手がかりだと言われています。

それにちなんで、埋文では市民の方と協力して毎年古代ハスを育てています☺

あじさいの長慶寺から、車で5分、徒歩なら20分程の距離にあります。
ぜひこの機会に、展示室のあるセンター２階にもお寄りください。入場無料です。

The Ancient Lotus flowers have bloomed at the Sennan City Archaeology
Center!
There are still plenty of buds, so it seems like we can enjoy them for some time to come.

The “Ancient Lotus” refers to the Oga Lotus, discovered in 1951 by the late Dr. Oga. He successfully germinated the lotus seeds that were found in a 2,000-year-old stratum.
　
The Center is located across the street from the historical site of Kaieji Temple Site, a grand temple from the Asuka period in Shindachi-Onoshiro. The center houses a permanent exhibition featuring some of the 302 artifacts excavated from the Kaieji site, which are designated as
Important Cultural Properties of Japan.

Among the artifacts are beautifully designed roof tiles featuring lotus
flower motifs. Tese were made using the same wooden mold as used for the tiles found at Sh*tennō-ji Temple in Osaka City and the Kibiike Temple Site in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture. It is said to be an important clue in unraveling the mysteries of Kaieiji, a large temple shrouded in mystery with no surviving construction records.

In connection with this history, the center works with local residents every year to cultivate the Ancient Lotus. ☺

The center is about a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from Chokeiji Temple, known for its hydrangeas. We warmly invite you to also visit the exhibition room on the second floor of the center while you're here. Admission is free.

大阪・関西万博の開催期間中の2025年夏、泉南市の名所「タルイサザンビーチ」を舞台に、未来への願いをランタンに込め、参加者の想いが空へ届くことを願いながら、幻想的なひとときをお楽しみください。

A beautiful sign of the changing season!

On the 2nd floor of the center, you can also find a permanent exhibition featuring lotus-designed roof tiles, excavated from the Kaieiji Temple Site, a National Historic Site.

These tiles are nationally designated Important Cultural Properties, and there are many more items on display beyond what you see in photos!

◇◆6月17日：長慶寺のあじさい◆◇
June 17: Hydrangeas at Chokeiji Temple

泉南市信達市場にある「あじさい寺・長慶寺」。
広い境内のあちこちにあじさいが咲いているのですが、
山門までの100段の石段のあじさいも花が増えてきました♪

この石段は、厄除の石段として知られ、
女性は33段目、男性は42段目で厄除けを念ずると、
それぞれご利益があると伝えられています。

長慶寺は、神亀年間（724年頃）に聖武天皇の勅願寺として、
行基によって創建されたと伝わります。

ご本尊は行基自作の秘仏と伝わっており、60年に1度だけ御開帳されます。

Located in Shindachi-Ichiba, Sennan City, Chokeiji Temple is also known as the “Hydrangea Temple.”

Hydrangeas are blooming throughout the spacious temple grounds, and the flowers along the 100 stone steps leading up to the main temple gate are becoming more abundant♪

These stone steps are known for their power to ward off misfortune.
It is said that women should pause at the 33rd step and men at the 42nd step to pray for protection, which is believed to bring good fortune.

Chokeiji Temple is said to have been founded by the renowned monk Gyoki around 724 during the Jinki period, under the imperial order of Emperor Shomu.

The temple’s principal deity is a secret statue said to have been carved by Gyoki himself, and it is only revealed to the public once every 60 years.

紀州徳川家の隠れ本陣として知られる真如寺で、
夏の風物詩として親しまれる「仏桑花（ハイビスカス）夏花祭り」が開催されます。

🌺会場では、色鮮やかに咲き誇るハイビスカスに囲まれながら、
アーティスト入江万理子さんによる個展と公開制作もあわせてお楽しみいただけます。

June 13: Ancient Lotus at the Sennan City Archaeology Center

泉南市埋蔵文化財センターの古代ハスもつぼみをつけはじめました１

泉南市の信達大苗代にある泉南市埋蔵文化財センターでは、市民の方々と協力して「古代ハス」を育てています。

「古代ハス」とは、故大賀博士が、1951年に2,000年前の地層から発見し、発芽に成功した「大賀ハス」　のこと。

というのも、埋文センターは、信達大苗代にある飛鳥時代の大寺院跡「国史跡・海会寺跡広場」の道を隔てて向い側にあり、海会寺跡からの出土品（国の重要文化財）302点を一部常設展示しているのですが…

出土品のなかには、ハスの花をデザインした美しい瓦があり、
海会寺の謎を解く重要な手がかりだと言われています

それにちなんでここでは古代ハスを育てているのです

あじさいの長慶寺から、車で5分、徒歩なら20分程の距離にあります。

道を隔てて向かい側にある国史跡・海会寺跡広場も新緑が美しい季節です。こちらもぜひお越しください。

The ancient lotuses at the Center has started to bud!
Located in Onoshio, Sennan City, the Center is cultivating “ancient lotuses” in collaboration with local residents.

The ancient lotus refers to the Oga Lotus, a species discovered in 1951 by the late Dr. Oga. He successfully germinated seeds that had been unearthed from a 2,000-year-old stratum.

This project has special meaning, as the Center stands just across the street from the historic site of Kaieiji Temple, a grand temple built in the Asuka period.

The Kaieiji Temple Site is designated a National Historic Site, and the Center permanently exhibits part of 302 excavated artifacts from the site, all of which are designated National Important Cultural Properties.

Among the excavated artifacts are beautiful roof tiles decorated with lotus flower motifs.

These tiles are believed to hold important clues to unraveling the mysteries of Kaieiji.

In connection with this symbolism, the Center cultivates the ancient lotus on its grounds.

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 14, the Center will be open!

It’s just a 5-minute drive or about a 20-minute walk from Chokeiji Temple, known for its hydrangeas.
The Kaieiji Temple Site across the road is also at its seasonal best, with fresh green foliage.
