Freewheeling Japan Celebrating human power and the quiet backstreets, beautiful parks, and unique culture of Tokyo not

Freewheeling was started as a way to help energetic people who appreciate local cultures and want to get more out of their experience when staying in Tokyo. My name is Brad Bennett and I've made Tokyo my home for more than 20 years. It is my pleasure to share some of my favorite places with you as we move through the city by bicycle or on foot. We offer well made Japanese bikes with fenders, baske

ts and gears! (think beach cruiser for the city)

An average course is 15-20 Kilometers with breaks for drinks, snacks and photos. A helmet and pair of gloves will be provided for your safety. All groups meet in front of the Southern Terrace Starbucks Coffee shop at 9:00am (South side of JR Shinjuku Station)

Wrapping up a seven day cycling tour exploring the best culinary and cultural stops along the way. It is a pleasure to introduce local restaurants and hidden gems like The Kumadel Cafe and their delicious apple pies and smoothies.
Shout out to a newer accommodation and restaurant in Shari named “BOTH” A stylish place with a super friendly staff and excellent set meals. I’ll be taking new guests there in a few weeks. No tour to central Hokkaido would be complete without a visit to “Takushinkan” photo gallery and The Goto Sumio Museum. If you are savvy and early to book, you might secure a reservation at “SSAW”. Otherwise, Farm Chiyoda down the road has Venison burgers and potato wedges that are my favorites. Cafe IPPO, on the way to Kanayama lake, is open for lunch, serves organic and macrobiotic meals featuring home grown produce. Cafe Goryo and Kaneko Coffee Cafe are also on my top ten list and not to be missed.
Many locations in Hokkaido do not accept reservations so arriving early or thinking about your group size before showing up is important. I notice that many people who love “slow food” are impatient (like me) Needless to say, waiting in line for Furanoya curry is just part of the experience. Much gratitude to Tetsuya and Saki from “Ride Experience” for making the trip to Hokkaido. We have put together a few new routes (secret) and will be offering these unique bespoke tours for summer 2026. You can bring your own bike or a quality rental is available from Rhythm or G.S. Astuto (if you know what’s good).

Tokyo’s streets become our stage as we roll back time and go to the school of rock.”

Much gratitude to Kim Browne and his amazing Izu Shimoda rental property and Kokubun-san, offering fat tire ebike tours around secret coves and mountains of Kawazu area. DM me for direct contact.. Next post will be about the Tokyo Firefly Ride…check your calendar for June 21st 18:00 meeting at United Nations College Aoyama.tokyo

Much appreciation for Pascal Shirley! Yuki and went to visit his new print shop in Los Angeles and see what all the fuss was about. The shop was cool, the prints mesmerizing, and the Epson printers sleek and beautiful. We didn’t expect such an amazing guide and host for our brief stay. It feels like we met half of LA in two days. We ate amazing Mexican food with Carlos at “Ditroit”, partied with Christie and “Black Power” at Delicious Vinyl, Met Trip and Pedro at Gjelina’s restaurant, hiked 5 miles jet lagged, basked in the art of Olafur Eliasson, had a beet salad at “Destroyer and stewed apples with passion fruit for breakfast. It was a tour de force of good times and we learned a lot about L.A. We plan to offer some new international tours in 2025. It’s time to introduce more of Japan’s untouched beauty to California Photographers and Artists and possibly bring Japanese friends to the west coast for art, music and food experiences. I’m pleased to report the initial tour was more than a success. Stay tuned for updates and check Pascal Printing when in LA! .la

Life in a northern town. Confluence of rivers, between two mountain ranges, more of a destination than a crossroads. A river runs through it called “The Sorachi” Farming and outdoor experiences in nature draw people to this area. Snowboarding, Cycling and Hiking tours are my current options. Fishing, Surfing, SUP, Rafting, Birdwatching are also available and I’m happy to introduce the best operator or guide to fit your plans.

Jacksan has kept Studio C safe for the past eight years. Greeting delivery workers, guests and fellow canines with great enthusiasm. We are sad to leave our home in Sasazuka although we are excited to move to a new place with more space for bikes.
Much gratitude for the kind neighbors and friends around our workplace.
We are hosting a final event on Nov 25/26. 12-5pm each day. Hope to see you there!
