A Tokyo train line just turned… purple for Ditto. 💜

Tokyo Metro has launched a special Pokémon collaboration where parts of the Hanzomon Line are decorated entirely with Ditto.

Inside the train, you might spot:
• Ditto-shaped hand straps
• Purple-themed interiors
• Ditto posters all over the carriage

Even some stations along the line are part of the campaign.

Why Ditto on this line?
Because the Hanzomon Line’s colour is purple, and Ditto’s Japanese name “Metamon” sounds similar to “Hanzomon.” A perfect little wordplay for the collaboration.

This is a flash event, only until March 15. So if you’re travelling through Shibuya, Omotesando, Otemachi, or Tokyo Skytree, keep an eye out! You might randomly board a Ditto train 👀

And this is just one of many Pokémon experiences you can find in Japan.

We’re currently preparing a Japan First Timer Pokémon Ultimate Guide for you!

🚆 Japan rail fares are increasing from March 2026

For the first time in decades, several major railway companies will raise their fares due to rising costs and maintenance needs.

What to know 👇

- JR East (Tokyo area): average +7.1%
- Some private railways may increase more, up to around 10–12%
- Short trips may go up by ¥10–¥20
- IC card users (Suica / PASMO) will still pay slightly lower fares than paper tickets

The increase is noticeable, but Japan’s train system remains reliable, efficient, and worth it for most trips.

Planning ahead helps you travel smarter, not stressed 🤍

Japan has announced that the Arakurayama Sengen Park Cherry Blossom Festival near Mount Fuji will be cancelled in 2026 due to overtourism and disruptive visitor behaviour.

The cherry blossoms will still bloom, and the park remains open, but the official festival events will not take place. Local authorities made this decision to protect residents’ safety, daily life, and dignity after years of overcrowding, traffic issues, and disrespectful behaviour.

This is a reminder that while travel is a privilege, respect is essential.
Enjoy the beauty of sakura, but travel with adab, follow local rules, and be mindful of the communities we visit 🌸
