Modern Girl refers to women who led a modern lifestyle from the late Taisho (1912-1926) to the early Showa period (1926-1989). In an era when a new popular culture was flourishing, these women who enjoyed cutting-edge fashion, makeup, and entertainment and were independent with their own jobs were icons symbolizing the arrival of a new era, and continue to captivate people's hearts even today.
The exhibition is held in seven rooms of this cultural property based on the theme of “Modern Girls and Modern Tokyo,” and will showcase the urban culture these Modern Girls enjoy.

The Sanja Matsuri at Asakusa Shrine, heralding the arrival of early summer in Tokyo, is one of Japan's most iconic festivals. It takes place every year over three days—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—starting from the third Saturday in May, drawing a crowd of approximately 1.8 million people. The "Combined Procession of Town Mikoshi" is the most spectacular event on the second day. There are about 100 town mikoshi (portable shrines), each receiving purification rites before passing through the shrine's torii gate and parading through the streets. The mikoshi bearers' lively chants "Oisa! Oisa!" resonate throughout the town. This is a day you definitely must experience!

Mt. Oyama大山 also Mount Afuri阿夫利山, located in the northwest of Isehara City, has an elevation of 1,252 meters and boasts a beautiful pyramid-shaped appearance. This mountain has been revered as a sacred place since ancient Jomon times. Visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring, the fresh greenery in early summer, and the autumn leaves, making it a year-round destination. Afuri Shrine阿夫利神社 is also a popular tourist spot.

From the summit, one can overlook Enoshima, Sagami Bay, the Miura Peninsula, the Izu Peninsula, and even the distant Boso Peninsula to the south. On the other side of the mountain, you can see the beautiful mountain range of the Tanzawa mountains and also Mount Fuji, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Udo Shrine is a shrine located in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture. The original shrine was designated as the official shrine, but it is currently designated as a special shrine of the main shrine. The main hall is located in the middle of the cliff facing Hinata Beach, in a sea cave (sea cave) that is 38 meters from east to west, 29 meters from north to south, and 8.5 meters high. To visit the shrine, you must descend along the stone steps built next to the cliff, making the shrine a rare "descendant palace." The nearby coast, including the territory, has many sea caves and sea shelters formed by wave erosion and is designated as a scenic spot.

"SunMesse Nichinan" in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture is home to the world's only restored Moai statue from Easter Island. It was reprinted for the first time in Japan with the permission of the Easter Island Presbytery. This Moai statue is a complete reproduction of the seven statues of Ahu Akivi and is made of tuff from Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture. It is located on the beautiful coast of Sun Messe Nichinan and is a popular tourist attraction for many people.

【熊本城】Kumamoto Castle
Kumamoto Castle (熊本城), one of Japan's three most famous castles, was built over seven years in 1601 by the renowned Sengoku period general, Kato Kiyomasa. In 1877, the castle was destroyed by fire, and although it was reconstructed in 1960, it suffered extensive damage during the Kumamoto earthquake in 2016.

As a symbol of the region's recovery, restoration work progressed, and the castle was fully restored in March 2021. The most prestigious room, "Shokun-no-ma," is a must-see with its opulent, gold-adorned decor. The castle grounds are also renowned for cherry blossoms, having been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.

HAPPO-EN　八芳園

Nature's maximum living space, built garden, and HAPPO-EN Garden, approximately 33,000 square meters of land. It has a chapel, temple, and banquet hall, and can be used for weddings and various banquets. Anyone can enter for free and stroll through the garden, enjoying the scenery of each season.

It has a history of about 400 years.
