Be greeted by Tezuka Osamu’s famous characters on the wall🚃
畫有手塚治虫作品角色的壁畫迎面而來🚞

Did you know that the popular characters created by Tezuka Osamu, including Astro Boy, are drawn on the walls at the Waseda Exit of Takadanobaba Station? The sizes of the wall paintings are 3 meters high by 23 meters wide on the JR side and 3 meters by 12 meters on the Seibu Shinjuku Line side. Since Tezuka worked on his creative activities for a long time in the area around Takadanobaba, the wall paintings were installed at this location. 😳The vibrant and striking wall arts stand out in front of the busy station, catching the eyes of passersby and serving as a beloved landmark for locals and students alike.☺️

One of Japan’s representative spring events is Hinamatsuri Doll Festival, or Girls’ Day.🎎 Held on March 3 every year, this festival is to pray for girls’ healthy growth and happiness. It is a common traditional practice to display hina dolls and enjoy festive food at home. Meanwhile, Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku offers an opportunity to enjoy Hinamatsuri during your trip in Japan. A three-day only event with colorful dyed fabric decorating the town👘
染物彩染城鎮的3天限定活動👘

Dyeing is one of the symbolic traditional industries of Shinjuku. ✨In the Ochiai / Nakai area, which is located five to ten minutes by train from Shinjuku Station, there are still dyeing-related studios and workshops here and there. Around Nakai Station, an annual event called “Some no Komichi” is held in February with an aim to introduce the beautiful dyed products of Shinjuku.
One of the main features of this event is the “River Gallery,” where long strips of colorful dyed fabric are hung over the river to look like colorful waves. Meanwhile, the local shotengai shopping street has “Street Gallery,” where about 100 colorful curtains with various designs are hung in front of the respective shops and stores, creating a colorful streetscape. There are also other fun events, such as sales of goods and items, dyeing workshops and demonstrations.😊 The event is scheduled to be held from February 21 to 23 this year. Enjoy walking around the area while looking at colorful dyed articles cheerfully decorating the town.✨

Savor the taste of Kagurazaka in meticulously created wagashi🍡
可品嚐神樂坂風情，相當講究的和菓子🍡

Located on the main street in Kagurazaka, Baikatei is a wagashi Japanese confectioner with a history of 90 years in business. Preparing 32 different kinds of an (sweet bean paste) for different items, the shop offers various kinds of wagashi, which are carefully created by wagashi artisans individually. At the shop, you can find delicate and beautiful namagashi, a type of wagashi, which is usually freshly made and much more moist than other wagashi, with seasonal motifs, and “Kagurazaka Fukuneko Monaka,” which are in the shapes of cats sitting in the back alleys and on black walls in Kagurazaka🐱 These will make perfect souvenirs from the area. Baikatei Bettei Fufumian, a multi-purpose space that opened in August last year, offers wagashi-making classes and authentic tea-ceremony experience.

Only a few days left in 2024‼️
2024年馬上就要過完囉‼️

Japan has a custom of eating soba noodles at night on December 31, as marking the conclusion of the year on the last day, called “toshikoshi soba.” As soba noodles are thin and long, it is said that eating this customary soba implies the meaning of wishing for long-lasting life, health, and family ties. Among many soba restaurants in Tokyo, the one especially recommended for visiting during your Shinjuku sightseeing visit is “Daian,” which is located right outside Shinjuku Station. The restaurant offers hand-made soba made with carefully-selected domestic brown buckwheat grains, which are ground by a stone mill at the restaurant! The noodles are just great✨
Not only on December 31, but also any cold days you can really enjoy soba in a hot soup😊

Operating hours will differ from the usual schedule on December 30 (Mon) and December 31 (Tue). The operating hours will be: 11:30–18:00 (L.O. 17:00)
*On both days, the menu will be limited to dishes primarily featuring soba noodles.
*On New Year’s Eve, service will end as soon as the soba noodles are sold out.
