”Enoshima"

is a small island in the west of Kamakura and administratively part of the mainland city of Fujisawa.
It approximately takes more than an hour from "Shinjuku Station".
It has variety of attractions such as, tower, parks, shrines, aquariums, restaurants and caves.
Several shrines are found around the island and are dedicated to "Benten", a popular goddess of good fortune, wealth, music and knowledge. It is said that if you wash your money on the shrine's pond and spend it, the money will come back to you two-fold. Benten is believed to have created Enoshima before subduing a five headed dragon that had been terrorizing the area.

"Iwaya" are the two caves on Enoshima island which have been eroded by tides for thousands of years and elevated from the sea by repeated earthquakes.
The first cave contains some Buddhist statues, while the second cave is dedicated to the legendary dragon that used to terrorize the area.

One of the famous dishes is called "shirasu-don" (small raw fish on a bowl of rice).

"Sakura season has finally come"

"Ohanami"

I went to a park to have a picnic under the "Sakura" tree yesterday.
Surprisingly, there were a lot of people having picnics although it was Wednesday. It was so crowded!!!
I thought if i would go picnic on Weekdays there would be less people but i was wrong. People are really looking forward to seeing "Sakura" so, they would love to come everyday in the park to enjoy the beautiful scenery for 2-3 weeks. Japanese and foreign people enjoy this stunning scenery by having picnics in day and night. Actually, it was my first time to go to a picnic under the "Sakura" tree with such a crowd!
It was really a great experience!!!
